Just moments ago, AEW President Tony Khan tweeted out the news that one of the top stars on the promotion’s roster, Jon Moxley, is entering an inpatient alcohol treatment program:
Jon Moxley has allowed me to share with you that he is entering an inpatient alcohol treatment program. Jon is a beloved member of the AEW family. We all stand with him and Renee, and all of his family and friends, as he shifts his focus to recovery.

I’m proud to call Jon a friend, and like many of you, I’m also a fan of Mox and look forward to a time in the future when he is eventually ready to return to the ring. Until then, thank you for supporting Jon and respecting his privacy at this time.

Everyone at Cageside Seats wishes Moxley the best in his treatment and road to recovery.
Moxley was most recently on television on the Oct. 27 edition of Dynamite, defeating Dark Order’s 10 to advance in the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament. He was scheduled to face Orange Cassidy in the semifinals on Dynamite this week, with the winner moving on to the final to wrestle Bryan Danielson at the Full Gear pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Nov. 13, 2021. Those plans will obviously have to change now, though AEW has yet to reveal how they will replace Moxley in the tournament.
Obviously all that is secondary to the health and welfare of Moxley but we can expect an announcement on what this means for the tournament sometime tomorrow.
