WWE Battleground match card previews: Featuring Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan, Ryback vs. CM Punk and more!

Breaking down the new for 2013 "Battleground" event, with complete previews for every advertised match on the card. The show will feature Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan, Ryback vs. CM Punk, Alberto Del Rio vs. Rob Van Dam in a Hardcore Rules match and more!

Don't miss WWE's inaugural Battleground pay-per-view (PPV)! Live from First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY, the show is headlined by Daniel Bryan's quest to reclaim the WWE championship he has held for fleeting moments over the last couple of months, when he squares off in the main event against Randy Orton. This year show also features the old Paul Heyman guy, CM Punk against the newest one, Ryback, and RVD's latest shot at becoming World Heavyweight Champion (WHC) and much more.

The action starts Sunday, October 7 with an hour-long free streaming pre-show at 7:00PM ET/4:00PM PT, while the PPV broadcast will begin at 8PM ET/5PM PT.

The show features

He stood tall for seconds at SummerSlam. He almost made it 24 hours after Night of Champions. After his latest go-round with Randy Orton, will he be able to claim the WWE championship for a true reign at Battleground? The powers-that-be really don't want him as the face of the company. And as if DB didn't have enough against him, the Viper has responded to HHH and Stephanie McMahon's call for him to become more vicious following his loss at the last PPV.

The co-main event(s)

CM Punk's issues with Paul Heyman trace back to at least Money in the Bank, but there were cracks showing even earlier. The Best in the World has yet to figure out a way to get satisfaction from his former father figure, and the path to revenge got even more treacherous when Ryback became a Heyman guy. Those two collide in Buffalo.

Alberto Del Rio has been World Heavyweight Champion (WHC) for more than three months, and has held the Big Gold Belt for nearly 200 days in 2013. His last title defense was successful, as even though Rob Van Dam technically won the bout, it was via disqualification and therefore did not result in the belt changing hands. For their rematch at Battleground, there will be no disqualifications, as the WHC will be determined under Hardcore Rules.

In other action

The cast of the E!'s Total Divas has been hot under the collar with Divas champ AJ Lee since she mocked the cast with a scathing promo on the August 26th edition of Raw. Tonight, Brie Bella stands up for the reality show crew and gets a shot at AJ's butterfly belt. It'll be an uphill better, especially considering how the Bella may be concerned about the well-being of her new fiancé when he goes in the main event.

It's more than just a match when Rhodes brothers Cody and Dustin get their shot at Roman Reigns and Seth Rollings of The Shield. The latter duo doesn't have to put their tag team titles on the line, but Goldust and his baby brother are fighting for their careers. And the future employment of their father Dusty Rhodes, who will be in their corner for this one. No doubt fellow Hound of Justice and United States champion Dean Ambrose will be on-hand to assist the black-clad minions of the regime, as well.

Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth and Kofi Kingston have all been vocal opponents of the Best for Business movement lead by Chief Operating Officer Triple H. So, it's probably not a coincidence that tonight Ziggler will face Damien Sandow on the Kick-Off show free onling, Truth gets Intercontinental champ Curtis Axel and the high flying Kingston becomes the second PPV opponent for the deranged Bray Wyatt. Time will tell if these are opportunities...or punishments.

In this StoryStream, we'll have previews of each and every match on the card. Stay tuned!
