Thunder Rosa becomes first non-Japanese wrestler to win a title in TJPW

It has been a wild weekend in Japan with the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14 event (night one, night two). Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley weren’t the only foreigners making news last night. Thunder Rosa became the first non-Japanese wrestler to win a title in Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling when she defeated Maki Itoh to be crowned the International Princess Champion.

Thunder Rosa’s weekend began with a victory over Mizuki on Friday night. Thunder Rosa brought the ruckus.

Thunder Rosa later issued a challenge to Maki Itoh for the International Princess Championship.

That led to some epic Twitter trash-talk. Language warning.

That battle went down Saturday night with Thunder Rosa overcoming to win the title belt.

Thunder Rosa released the following statement about becoming the first non-Japanese champion in TJPW after starting her journey in Japan in 2015.

Long post,

I cant describe how happy I am about being the first non japanese champion in this company.

I did it because I believe and other people believe in my abilities as a wrestler and as a performer.

I will never forget how when I first started coming to this country they called me the jobber, talent enhancement and that I had will never become a star!

Those words made me work harder to prove that I belong in this ring, that I deserve what I have achieve because of my talent, my in ring skills, my hard work and my charisma!

All this years I worked not for the gold and the fame, I worked hard because I want to be RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE BEST, as a relentless force in this business, as a.positive role model In wrestling.

Itoh felt the wrath and her big mouth got her in trouble. She felt the hammer and I made history.....

Thunder Rosa’s wrestling resume continues to grow with this becoming her third singles championship to join two tag team championships and a trios championship across various promotions over the years. If I had the book, it would only be a matter of time before Thunder Rosa takes the NWA World Women’s Championship.

Congratulations to Thunder Rosa on her success.
