Kassius Ohno added to Progress Super Strong Style 16 as tournament field nears completion

Progress have been making announcements for this year’s edition of their annual sixteen-man single elimination tournament Super Strong Style 16 for a while now, but they’ve saved one of the best to be one of the last. Without further ado...

This marks the erstwhile Chris Hero’s second time in the tournament (wherein the winner gets a shot at the Progress World Champion, currently Travis Banks), as he competed in the 2016 edition in an absolute tour de force that was, for my money, the highlight of a relatively weak period for Progress. That time around, he defeated Mark Andrews in the first round and WALTER in the second, before falling to eventual winner Tommy “Aleister Black” End in the semifinals.

We can’t speculate too much on who he might be matched up against this year since the brackets haven’t been announced yet, but we can take a look at the rest of the field, complete but for the last entrant.

  • Angelico
  • Chris Brookes
  • Chuck Mambo
  • David Starr
  • Doug Williams
  • Joey Janela
  • Jordan Devlin
  • Kassius Ohno
  • Keith Lee
  • Mark Andrews
  • ”Flash” Morgan Webster
  • Pete Dunne
  • TK Cooper
  • Tyler Bate
  • Zack Sabre, Jr.
  • ???

With a range this year from a veteran like Doug Williams to past finalists Zack Sabre, Jr. and Tyler Bate, to the most exciting man in indie wrestling today Joey Janela, it’s a hell of a field and I’m really excited to see how it’s gonna shake out.

There you have it, folks

The fifteenth man in this year’s Super Strong Style 16 is a quite familiar face. Who do you want as number sixteen, Cagesiders?
