Watch James Ellsworth challenge Nick Aldis for the ten pounds of gold

And use one of those two hands to sucker punch the NWA champ

Their initial promotion of James Ellsworth answering NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis’ challenge from Billy Corgan’s team indicated the match would happen yesterday (Feb. 11) at Championship Wrestling from Hollywood.

If it did happen at David Marquez’s show’s latest taping, the result is being kept tightly under wraps. The NWA is continuing to hype the former WWE Superstar’s latest big opportunity, with a storyline press release featuring justification from the champ’s manager Austin Idol for why Ellsworth meets the requirements of “The Aldis Crusade” - where the former Magnus will defend the belt 20 times in 60 days against former World champions or wrestlers who’ve challenged for those titles.

“The Aldis Crusade with Ten Pounds of Gold kicked off when James Ellsworth was chosen by Austin Idol to face Nick Aldis. This unlikely challenger is best known for being the valet for Carmella, his matches against Braun Strowman and Becky Lynch, but it’s victories over AJ Styles that brought him to the Aldis Crusade. The underdog competitor made his nwa debut yesterday at Championship Wrestling From Hollywood as he fit the criteria set forward by Nick Aldis and Austin Idol on who could be the first challenger for the Ten Pounds of Gold

The Aldis Crusade will see the NWA Champion Nick Aldis (or whoever defeats Aldis) go forth to defend the Ten Pounds of Gold over twenty times over the next sixty days. Reaction to James Ellsworth being chosen has brought a flood of response and opinions on his worth as challenger. Austin Idol defended the choice stating that Ellsworth’s resume while eclectic does fit the criteria.”

They also sent the above video teasing the release of the match later this week, which is great because it shows us Jimmy Dream sucker punching Aldis right in the middle of delivering his big underdog catchphrase.

Will Ellsworth, or “The Aldis Crusade”, get you to pay more attention to Billy’s NWA?
