TK Cooper suffers dislocated ankle at Progress: New York City

Progress can't seem to catch a break this weekend, and Pete Dunne's head getting busted open was just the beginning of it.

At Progress: New York City yesterday (Aug. 12), the tag title match between reigning champions British Strong Style (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) and best-tag-team-in-the-world-level challengers the South Pacific Power Trip (TK Cooper & Travis Banks) quickly turned to tragedy when Cooper, attempting a corkscrew moonsault to the outside, dislocated his ankle.

The match was immediately called off and TK was taken to the back and to the hospital while Progress ran a non-title handicap match between the remaining three men to save the day as best they could.

The injury required surgery, and Progress co-owner Glen Joseph kept us posted with running updates:

Additionally, the other half of the South Pacific Power Couple let us know that Cooper's injury is more serious than the similar ankle injury she suffered earlier this year, and he'll be requiring a full cast.

It’s too early to get any sort of estimated recovery time, but fortunately, TK himself is upbeat about the situation:

To end all this on the happiest note possible, let's take a look at the card announced this afternoon for today's Progress: Boston, shall we?

  • Jeff Cobb vs. Mark Andrews
  • Dakota Kai vs. Deonna Purrazzo vs. Jinny
  • Jack Gallagher vs. Travis Banks
  • Martin Stone vs. Matt Riddle
  • Jimmy Havoc vs. Zack Gibson
  • British Strong Style (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) (c) vs. Ringkampf (Timothy Thatcher & WALTER) (Progress Tag Team Championship)

Nice to see WWE Superstars Gallagher and Kai sticking around for the second show, eh? And that Stone/Riddle match, they had a belter at Style Battle in June, I can only imagine how it'll be in front of a red-hot Progress crowd!

There you have it, folks

We here at Cageside Seats wish TK the speediest of recoveries and will do our utmost to keep it 100 in his absence.
