PWG Battle of Los Angeles 2017 tournament field set

We're a little under two months away from PWG's annual Battle of Los Angeles tournament (happening on September 1-3) and the full field has been set, so let's take a look at it in the order each participant was announced.

  • Flamita (Appearing in his first BOLA and making his PWG debut, Flamita has made his name on the Mexican independent scene as well as through several tours of Dragon Gate in Japan.)
  • Keith Lee (Appearing in his first BOLA, Lee has had a breakout year since debuting in Evolve in January and seeks to make a Limitless impact on the tournament.)
  • WALTER (Appearing in his first BOLA and making his PWG debut, WALTER is the backbone of Germany's wXw and one of the best big men in the wrestling business. If you've never seen him before, you are in for a treat.)
  • Travis Banks (Appearing in his first BOLA and making his PWG debut, Banks has taken the UK by storm this year and is on a collision course to win the Progress World Championship this fall, among other accolades.)
  • Rey Fenix (Appearing in his third BOLA, Fenix has never made it out of the first round.)
  • Dezmond Xavier (Appearing in his first BOLA, Xavier is a rising high flyer who's just breaking out nationally.)
  • Donovan Dijak (Appearing in his first BOLA and making his PWG debut, Tall Don is an ROH Top Prospect Tournament winner and another hyper-athletic big man who has had an incredible series of matches against Keith Lee over the last year or so.)
  • Jeff Cobb (Appearing in his second BOLA, last year Cobb was eliminated in the first round.)
  • Trevor Lee (Appearing in his fourth consecutive BOLA, Lee made it to the finals last year.)
  • "Flash" Morgan Webster (Appearing in his first BOLA and making his PWG debut, Webster is a mod revivalist high flyer who spent most of last year out with injury but has come back hot and hungry, and likely looking to make the most of this spotlight.)
  • Zack Sabre, Jr. (Appearing in is fourth BOLA, Sabre won the tournament in 2015.)
  • Sammy Guevara (Appearing in his first BOLA, Guevara is a Texas standout perhaps most closely associated with WrestleCircus.)
  • Mark Haskins (Appearing in his second BOLA, last year Haskins was eliminated in the second round.)
  • Jonah Rock (Appearing in his first BOLA and making his PWG debut, Rock is perhaps the most obscure man in the field, but he's wrestled regularly for Pro Wrestling NOAH as part of the faction The Mighty Don't Kneel.)
  • Brian Cage (Appearing in his fifth BOLA, the man they call Cage has never made it deeper than the quarter-finals.)
  • Rey Horus (Appearing in his first BOLA, Horus is perhaps better known to folks as Lucha Underground's Dragon Azteca, Jr.)
  • Marty Scurll (Appearing in his third BOLA, Scurll won the tournament last year.)
  • Michael Elgin (Appearing in his fourth BOLA, Big Mike has made it to the finals twice before.)
  • TK Cooper (Appearing in his first BOLA and making his PWG debut, Cooper is Banks' partner in the South Pacific Power Trip and, while not quite as prominent a singles wrestler as his partner, is every bit as talented.)
  • Matt Sydal (Appearing in his sixth BOLA, Sydal has never made it deeper than the quarter-finals.)
  • Sami Callihan (Appearing in his third BOLA, Callihan's best finish was making it to the semi-finals in 2012.)
  • Matt Riddle (Appearing in his second BOLA, Riddle was eliminated in the first round last year.)
  • Ricochet (Appearing in his fifth BOLA, Ricochet won the tournament in 2014.)
  • Penta el Zero M (Appearing in his third BOLA, Penta's best finish was making it to the quarter finals in 2015.)

There you have it, folks

The twenty four men who will do battle in BOLA have been set, and what a variety we have, with representatives from just about all around the wrestling world. Which begs the question... who do you think is gonna win this thing, Cagesiders?
