PWX Wrestling

Welcome back to the Sermon on the Mat, your weekly one-stop shop for news from the wider world of wrestling beyond the big cable TV monoliths that get all the coverage.

Coming soon...

CZW / PCW War Zone (November 18-19)

—Night One (7PM GMT)—

  1. Bubblegum vs. Dean Allmark
  2. Honky Tonk Man vs. Joey Hayes
  3. Chris Dickinson vs. Dave Mastiff
  4. Dave Crist vs. T-Bone
  5. AR Fox vs. Chris Ridgeway
  6. Dezmond Xavier vs. Zachary Wentz
  7. Ashton Smith vs. Joey Janela

PCW’s debut in Manchester for Night Two has yet to have any matches announced for it as I write this, but Night One in Liverpool is fairly well stuffed, folks. CZW invades ahead of PCW’s Wrestling World Championships next week and it does not look to disappoint. Particularly interesting to me are Dickinson/Mastiff (emphasis on “stiff”) and Scarlet and Graves exploding as Xavier and Wentz do battle.

Get your tickets here or look for these to show up on PCW On Demand.

ACW Dangerous Intentions (November 19, 4:15PM Eastern)

  1. Johann Ramzes (c) vs. Richard Delicious (ACW Cruiserweight Championship)
  2. Lacey Twins (Gabe & Greyson Lacey) (c) vs. State Line (Damien Angel & Eddie Taurus) (ACW Tag Team Championship)
  3. CJ O’Doyle vs. Sean Swag (c) (ACW Heavyweight Championship)

Details are kind of thin on the ground for this one, but I figured since it’s part of your FloSlam subscription it was worth reminding you of, folks.

WSU Breaking Barriers 4 / CZW Night of Infamy (November 19)

—WSU Breaking Barriers 4 (4PM Eastern)—

  1. Penelope Ford vs. Priscilla Kelly vs. Renee Michelle
  2. Britt Baker vs. Kiera Hogan
  3. BaleSpin (KC Spinelli & Xandra Bale) vs. Sinister Sweethearts (Brittany Blake & Samantha Heights)
  4. Jade vs. Taeler Hendrix
  5. Backseat Girlz (Annie Social & Missy Sampson) vs. the Fella Twins (Eddy McQueen & Rick Cataldo) (c) (WSU Tag Team Championship)
  6. Leva Bates (c) vs. Su Yung (WSU Spirit Championship)
  7. LuFisto vs. Mercedes Martinez

—CZW Night of Infamy (8PM Eastern)—

  1. Alexander James vs. Tony Deppen
  2. Frankie Pickard vs. Jimmy Lloyd
  3. Dub Boys (Dave McCall & Nate Carter) vs. EYFBO (Angel Ortiz & Mike Draztik)
  4. Archadia vs. BLK Jeez (Jersey All-Pro Showcase Match)
  5. Homicide vs. Johnny Yuma
  6. “Chainsaw” Joe Gacy vs. Sami Callihan
  7. Jeff Cannonball & Matt Tremont vs. Young Dragons (Dale Patricks & Josh Crane) (Squared Circle of Sacrifice Match)
  8. Danny Havoc vs. Jonathan Gresham (c) (CZW World Heavyweight Championship)

The folks over at CZW and WSU have a double shot in their home base of Voorhees, New Jersey lined up while part of the CZW roster is in the UK for the PCW dates, but that doesn’t mean they’re running light. With Jonathan Gresham defending his title against Danny Havoc, Joe Gacy and Sami Callihan in what’s sure to be a barn-burner of a brawl, and newcomer Johnny Yuma taking on an absolute indie legend in Homicide, they’ve got a hell of a show on tap. And that’s before you get to the Squared Circle of Sacrifice!

On the women’s side of things, Mercedes Martinez faces LuFisto, hand-picked as her opponent by WSU Champion Cherry Bomb, the incomparable Fella Twins defend their tag titles against the Backseat Girlz, Su Yung gets a shot a Leva Bates’ Spirit Championship, and ROH and TNA collide as Jade wrestles Taeler Hendrix. Plus a bunch of top shelf prospects in action, including Priscilla Kelly, Britt Baker, and Kiera Hogan.

You can pick up tickets here or wait for ‘em to go up on CZWStudios, folks.

PWX X16 2016 (November 19-20)

—Night One (7PM Eastern)—

  1. James Drake vs. Jason Cade (PWX X16 First Round Match)
  2. Colby Corino vs. Tracer X (PWX X16 First Round Match)
  3. Darius Lockhart vs. ??? (PWX X16 First Round Match)
  4. Ethan Case vs. Fred Yehi (PWX X16 First Round Match)
  5. Chip Day vs. Trevor Lee (PWX X16 First Round Match)
  6. Corey Hollis vs. Matt Riddle (PWX X16 First Round Match)
  7. Anthony Henry vs. Martin Stone (PWX X16 First Round Match)
  8. Davey Richards vs. Zack Sabre, Jr. (PWX X16 First Round Match)
  9. Bravado Brothers (Harlem & Lancelot Bravado) vs. the Revolt! (Caleb Konley & Zane Riley) vs. Ugly Ducklings (Lance Lude & Rob Killjoy) (c) (PWX Tag Team Championship)

PWX are at it again in Charlotte, North Carolina with their annual X16 tournament and not only is it stacked, but it’s included with your FloSlam subscription, live! 2016 has been a great year for indie tournaments but most of them are on tape delay, so it’s fantastic to be able to check one out live as it happens. Night One overlaps a bit with NXT TakeOver: Toronto, unfortunately, but Night Two has a special 3PM Eastern start time to make sure we all get to enjoy the finals before Survivor Series.

The tournament field itself is incredible, and not a single one of these matches looks to disappoint. I can’t wait in particular for Hollis/Riddle (a rematch of their excellent Scenic City Invitational match) and Henry/Stone, but Day/Lee, Richards/Sabre (practically guaranteed to be my favorite Davey Richards match since his tilt against Drew Gulak at Evolve 44 last year), Case/Yehi, I could go on and on, and I haven’t even mentioned the tag title match! It’s gonna be a fantastic two nights of wrestling.

Get your tickets here or be ready to tune in on FloSlam, but you’re not gonna want to miss ‘em.

Beyond Insatiable (November 20, 3PM Eastern)

  1. Crusade for Change (Anthony Gangone, Darius Carter, Devin Blaze, & Tommy Trainwreck) vs. Team Alpha-1 (“All Ego” Ethan Page, Kobe Durst, Shane Sabre, & Space Monkey)
  2. Biff’s Kids (Ace Romero, Sully Banger, & Xavier Bell) vs. Gentleman’s Club (Chuck Taylor, Orange Cassidy, & Swamp Monster)
  3. Secret City Soldiers (Anthony Stone, Davey Cash, & Kris Pyro) vs. Team Pazuzu (Angel Ortiz, Mike Draztic, & Pinkie Sanchez)
  4. John Silver vs. “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams
  5. Chuck O’Neil vs Jaka
  6. Jonathan Gresham vs. Matt Cross
  7. Brian Fury vs. Chris Hero
  8. Keith Lee vs. Kimber Lee
  9. Matt Riddle vs. Matt Tremont (Anything Goes)

Beyond are in Worcester, Massachusetts with their third show this month, Insatiable, and no surprise, but it is a dense one. You got faction warfare from Crusade for Change, Alpha-1 Wrestling, the Secret City Soldiers, and Team Pazuzu, two men that are having breakout years clashing in Silver and Hot Sauce, and a first time ever grappler vs. high flyer clash in Gresham vs. Cross that had ought to tear the house down, and that’s just the undercard!

Up top Brian Fury’s retirement continues as he faces the self-proclaimed Greatest of All Time, Chris Hero, Keith Lee and Kimber Lee clash in an intergender match so confounding it must be seen with your own eyes (although reports that the winner gets exclusive rights to the Lee name seem to be false), and the Bro faces what might be his craziest challenge yet as he goes one-on-one with a veritable hardcore legend in Matt Tremont.

So get your tickets here or warm up your Beyondemand subs, folks.

ICW Fear and Loathing IX (November 20)

  1. Lewis Girvan vs. Ricochet
  2. Andy Wild vs. Iestyn Rees vs. Liam Thomson vs. Lionheart (c) vs. Zack Gibson vs. ??? (ICW Zero G Championship Stairway to Heaven Match)
  3. Carmel (c) vs. Kay Lee Ray vs. Viper (ICW Women’s Championship)
  4. Davey Blaze vs. Joe Hendry (If Hendry wins, he gets five minutes in the ring with the Wee Man)
  5. BT Gunn vs. Stevie Boy (Casket Match)
  6. Joe Coffey vs. Kurt Angle
  7. Polo Productions (Jackie Polo & Mark Coffey) (c) vs. Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon) (ICW Undisputed Tag Team Championship)
  8. Trent Seven vs. Wolfgang (c) (ICW World Heavyweight Championship Steel Cage Match)
  9. Team Dallas (Chris Renfrew, DCT, Grado, & Sha Samuels) vs. the Black Label (Bram, Drew Galloway, Jack Jester, & Kid Fite) (For 100% Control of ICW)

ICW are running their biggest show of the year in the biggest arena they’ve ever ran, the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. That’s right, an indie promotion is running the same arena the WWE uses when they come to town, and they’ve earned every seat in the house. And, perhaps most impressively, they’ve done it with relatively few big imports. Obviously Team 3D (in what is likely one of their last indie matches, given Devon taking a job as a producer for WWE) and Kurt Angle are big gets, as well as Ricochet, but prettymuch the entire rest of the card is homegrown UK talent, one way or the other.

Oh, and one more guest that you can’t see by looking at the card here— former WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor is going to be on the show as commissioner Mick Foley’s special guest enforcer! This is obviously some 2016 territory, folks, for an active WWE superstar to be on an indie iPPV. Wait, iPPV? You bet! The show will be available live on ICW’s subscription service at no additional fee!

Get your tickets here or fire up ICW On Demand for the live iPPV, folks.

Free matches here!

—Evolve 72—

  1. Matt Riddle over DUSTIN
  2. Fred Yehi over Jason Kincaid
  3. Team Pazuzu (Chris Dickinson & Jaka) over Darby Allin & Tony Nese
  4. ”All Ego” Ethan Page over Zack Sabre, Jr.
  5. “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams over Chris Hero
  6. Timothy Thatcher (c) over Drew Gulak to retain the Evolve World Championship in a Squared Circle of Survival Match

—Evolve 73—

  3. “All Ego” Ethan Page over Chris Dickinson
  4. Drew Gulak over Zack Sabre, Jr.

Evolve had another blockbuster weekend, folks. Obviously you can go hit up my recaps (72 / 73) for the full story, but in short, fire up your FloSlam subscriptions and go watch Hero/Williams, Thatcher/Gulak, Gulak/Sabre, and Hero/Riddle if you missed ‘em, you will not regret it.

As always...

Remember folks, no matter what type of wrestling you like, no matter how down you feel about the state of WWE, TNA, ROH, or any other "big-time" pro wrestling, there's something out there for you. There's a pro wrestling product that can hit you in the right spot and make you love wrestling like you thought you'd never be able to love it again. It's there, I promise. You just gotta reach out and find it, and that, my friends, is what the Sermon on the Mat is all about.
