Rey Mysterio's first post-WWE match will be against a familiar foe

NortheastWrestling.com

Despite what Randall Ortman tells you, recent free agent Rey Mysterio will be working at least a few dates away from AAA and Lucha Underground.  One of those was announced by Northeast Wrestling (NEW) last night.

Mysterio will face off against a familiar foe, and one he will most likely see when he does start working in Mexico and Boyle Heights, Alberto El Patrón.  The two battled frequently while still with WWE  while the AAA World Heavyweight champion was still known as Alberto Del Rio.

The match will be part of NEW's August 1st Wrestling Under the Stars 4 show at Duchess Stadium in Fishkill, New York.  They're the only bout confirmed, but the event will also feature Matt Hardy, Mickie James, Velvet Sky, The Young Bucks and more.  You can order tickets to the show here.  Alberto and Rey will be doing a meet & greet as part of the show, and you can pre-order autographs as well.

Northeast is no stranger to bringing in a mix of indy favorites along with big former, and sometimes current - as in the case of their Battle of the Piledrivers between Jerry Lawler and an about-to-move-to-Florida Kevin Steen - WWE names.

Will Rey follow in El Patrón's footsteps and work for just about everyone in North America, or is this a one-shot deal before he settles in with AAA?

Anybody going to make a Summer trip to the greater New York City area for this one?
