Bullet Club’s ABC TNA tag title defense gets tougher with former champions added to Hard to Kill

Ace Austin and Chris Bey have big plans with the tag team titles when Impact makes the switch to TNA at Hard to Kill on January 13, 2024. Thanks to Santino Marella, the task got a lot harder for Bullet Club’s ABC duo.

Ace and Bey were originally eying a match against Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz straight up. The Rascalz had a contractual rematch from when ABC won the titles off them, and Hard to Kill was the target.

Santino used his Director of Authority power to complicate matters. The Rascalz lost to “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Trent Seven at Final Resolution. Since Speedball Mountain pinned the #1 contenders, Santino decreed that they are in the PPV match as well. It doesn’t stop there. TNA announced the debut of the Grizzled Young Veterans at Hard to Kill. Santino added James Drake and Zack Gibson to the bout to make it a four-way.

Facing the Rascalz is tough enough by itself. Not only do Trey and Wentz possess excellent skills in the ring, but they also are crafty cheaters. A four-way gives them more opportunity to pull a fast one. Seven arrives as a former tag team champion in NXT and NXT UK. He has already shown great chemistry with Bailey. GYV are also former NXT UK tag champs. The deck is stacked against Ace and Bey.

Here is Santino explaining the rigmarole of his decision. Sonna ma gun!

The Hard to Kill PPV lineup currently includes:

  • TNA World Championship: Alex Shelley (c) vs. Moose
  • Knockouts Championship: Trinity (c) vs. Jordynne Grace
  • X-Division Championship: Chris Sabin (c) vs. Kushida vs. Hijo del Vikingo
  • TNA World Tag Team Championship: ABC (c) vs. The Rascalz vs. Speedball Mountain vs. Grizzled Young Veterans
  • Knockouts Ultimate X
  • PCO vs. Dango
  • “One of the biggest signings in TNA
  • TNA Digital Media Championship: Tommy Dreamer (c) vs. Crazy Steve in No DQ (pre-show)
  • Rich Swann vs. Steve Maclin (pre-show)
  • Eric Young & Frankie Kazarian vs. Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards (pre-show)

What odds do you give ABC of retaining at Hard to Kill? Steiner math is encouraged.
