Impact teases Samoa Joe for Slammiversary

Among other names from their past, like Mickie James, Kazuchika Okada, Chelsea Green, and Tetsuya Naito.

Impact announced July for this year’s Slammiversary. They also leaned into the gimmick of teasing surprise appearances. Samoa Joe was front and center.

When WWE made shocking releases last year, Impact was there to pick up the pieces. That also happened to coincide with their Slammiversary PPV. Impact played into the fun and games with vignettes teasing several names that could appear. The promise of excitement was delivered with appearances from the Motor City Machine Guns, Good Brothers, EC3, Eric Young, Heath Slater, and an injury return from Rich Swann.

Impact is back at it again with a new teaser vignette for potential big names for this year’s Slammiversary - including WWE’s post-WrestleMania 37 cuts. Check it out to see which familiar faces you recognize.

That’s a quick flash of Mickie James’ face right off the bat. Samoa Joe is next. The hooded fellow is reminiscent of Great Muta. The No Limit tag team refers to Tetsuya Naito and Yujiro Takahashi, who teamed under that name during their CMLL/TNA excursion back in 2009. The creepy blond is Laurel Van Ness (aka Chelsea Green) from her “Hot Mess” run as a jilted bride. A variety of international flags follow to signify worldwide talent, with some of the same faces reappearing - along with a very young Kazuchika Okada at the :21 mark.

Impact generally uses their own older footage of past names, so that’s why not all recent WWE releases could be shown. That doesn’t mean Impact didn’t sneak in hints. For example, an Australian flag could refer to Billie Kay and Peyton Royce.

Who do you hope to see sign with Impact to appear at Slammiversary? Which hints do you think are red herrings? Share any other clues from the teaser that went unmentioned.
