Mickie James wins the Knockouts title for the fourth time

Impact’s YouTube

Mickie James entered Bound For Glory on Sat., Oct. 23 in Las Vegas as a three-time Knockouts champion. Given how dominant her opponent, Deonna Purrazzo, has been during her nearly year-long reign, not many gave the veteran James a shot at winning the belt a fourth time.

You shouldn’t bet against Hardcore Country, though.

The two wrestlers had been ordered not to lay a hand on the other in the build to their PPV showdown, and Mickie couldn’t wait for the bell to beat some respect into The Virtuosa. Each woman got some licks in before the bell finally rang. Purrazzo was in control at that point, and stayed there until a striking exchange and a crossbody got James back in the fight.

Each woman landed a big shot, but couldn’t keep their opponent’s shoulders on the mat for three.

Things got a little hectic from there, with the champ attempting to bring a chair in, only for that to backfire on her when James kicked it into her face after Deonna squabbled with the referee about it. Purrazzo thought she had matters in hand after locking in a rope-assisted armbar, but she got too cocky. Taunting creating an opening for a tornado DDT, a Mickie James is Knockouts champ for the first time since 2013.

NWA, here she comes.
