With all the talk of how WWE and AEW treat their women’s divisions, Impact has been under the radar giving quality time week in and week out to their Knockouts. AEW’s women’s tag tournament debuted last night, but Impact is trying to steal a little of that thunder by announcing a Knockouts Championship match to main event an upcoming special show.
Deonna Purrazzo will defend the Knockouts Championship against Jordynne Grace as the main event of the two-night Emergence.

Emergence is scheduled for August 18 and August 25. It is basically glorified episodes of Impact Wrestling, but I think it is safe to assume we’re all up for big-time bouts on free TV. The press release states that Purrazzo vs Grace will be the main event for night 2. Time will tell if that means they close the show, or if it is like Wrestlemania with 3 or more main events.
The first encounter between Purrazzo and Grace was a rousing affair at Slammiversary. Purrazzo showed why she is The Greatest Technical Women’s Wrestler in the World by using a “double armbar” to take the gold away from Grace.

That submission maneuver put Grace in a sling. She came back last week using that injury as a rouse to attack the new champ.
WHY HASN’T SHE BEEN FINED YET... SUSPENDED YET... FIRED YET?? @ScottDAmore @dlobrown75.... it’s been 6 days, where are my answers????? @IMPACTWRESTLING https://t.co/aEF5keVA4z

Grace must have called in her automatic rematch to get this bout scheduled for Emergence. She didn’t look 100% healed in that ambush clip. It will be interesting to see if Grace is rushing back too soon and if that will be her downfall to The Virtuosa.
In other Knockouts news, Kimber Lee has officially signed a long-term deal with Impact.

Lee may not be the only person scoring a contract with Impact today. Heath (fka Heath Slater) has a shot to earn a roster spot tonight on Impact Wrestling. He will challenge Moose for the TNA Heavyweight Championship. Scott D’Amore declared that if Heath can win then he will become part of Impact.
In addition on tonight’s Impact Wrestling at 8 pm ET on AXS TV, Eddie Edwards will continue his World Championship open challenge. The opponent has yet to be revealed.
