Impact Wrestling has been setting up a new challenger for Tessa Blanchard and her World Championship. They ran a #1 contender tournament that has produced a surprising final between Ace Austin and Trey Miguel. Ace was a last-minute replacement for an ‘injured’ Ken Shamrock, and Trey pulled off a huge upset by eliminating the top gun Michael Elgin. Impact is hyping Tuesday night’s Ace vs Trey match on AXS with a countdown of the 5 most epic #1 contender matches in company history.
5. Christoper Daniels winning Steel Asylum Match - TNA Hard Justice (Aug. 16, 2009)
4. Jeff Jarrett vs Kurt Angle - TNA Slammiversary (June 12, 2011)
3. AJ Styles vs Bobby Roode vs James Storm - TNA Turning Point (Nov. 11, 2012)
2. LAX vs Triple X - TNA Bound for Glory (Oct. 14, 2007)
1. Tessa Blanchard winning gauntlet match - Impact Wrestling (Nov. 19, 2019)
That video featured plenty of solid action with a mix of craziness. Suicide dropping from the Asylum cage made me cringe. Jeff Jarrett hitting people on the head with his guitar never gets old. Elix Skipper had no fear on his huge high-flying crossbody. Homicide and Skipper falling from the X ropes above the ring into a neckbreaker was insane. Hernandez landing awkwardly after winning that match made me laugh. Those early days of TNA continue to amaze me with the physical risks they were taking.
