MMA fans will give me crap for the headline, and deservedly so. But it’s not inaccurate, and it’s a lot funnier than “UFC Hall of Famer” and more appropriate for this site than “star of Boo 2! A Madea Halloween”.

In case you haven’t connected those dots yet, we’re talking about Tito Ortiz. The combat sports legend - whose 2013 run with TNA not only included helping Bully Ray take the World title back from Chris Sabin but also the infamous #August1Warning angle - won the race for a spot on the city council in his hometown of Huntington Beach, CA.

Ortiz, who ran on a Donald Trump-inspired “Make Huntington Beach Safe Again” campaign, won one of the three available seats. He led the pack with 34,901 votes, or 14.3% of those cast.

The 46 year old is currently retired from mixed martial arts, but like a good pro wrestler, Tito’s retired and comeback several times already throughout his career. His last fight was last year, a quick win over Alberto El Patron in Combate Americas.
