Sting knocked himself out on a chair in Impact’s greatest Victory Road matches

And everything you need to get ready for tonight’s Victory Road special on Impact Plus!

Impact is bringing back Victory Road tonight (Oct. 3, 2020) at 8 pm ET as a special event on the Impact Plus app. Get in the mood with a countdown of the five greatest matches at Victory Road.

5. Ultimate X Gauntlet Match - TNA Victory Road (July 15, 2007)
4. Petey Williams vs AJ Styles - TNA Victory Road (Nov. 7, 2004)
3. Bobby Roode vs Sting - TNA Victory Road (Mar. 18, 2012)
2. Beer Money vs Motor City Machine Guns - TNA Victory Road (July 11, 2010)
1. Kurt Angle & Team 3D vs AJ Styles, Christian Cage, & Rhino - TNA Victory Road (July 13, 2008)

This was a wild countdown. The craziest spot was Frankie Kazarian with a flying cutter to an upside down Christopher Daniels hanging from the Ultimate X structure. The funniest spot was Sting knocking himself out on a chair during a Scorpion Death Drop. That kind of finish should eliminate it from contention as a great match. The happiest moment was the Motor City Machine Guns winning tag team gold for the first time in TNA. The top choice looks very deserving with all kinds of brutal maneuvers with tables, ladders, and chairs. It made me wince in pain.

The advertised card for tonight’s Victory Road is as follows:

  • Impact World Championship: Eric Young (c) vs Eddie Edwards
  • Knockouts Championship: Deonna Purrazzo (c) vs Susie
  • X-Division Championship Defeat Rohit Challenge: Rohit Raju (c) vs TBA
  • Unsanctioned Match: Heath & Rhino vs Reno Scum
  • Jordynne Grace vs Tenille Dashwood
  • Brian Myers vs Tommy Dreamer
  • Ace Austin vs Karl Anderson vs Alex Shelley vs Josh Alexander

The four-way is a new addition to the card. It was announced as a preview to an official tag team championship bout at Bound for Glory on October 24.

The Victory Road promo package mentions nine matches in total, so expect two more on the fly.

As for predictions, I’m pretty confident that no titles will change hands so close to Bound for Glory. Heath & Rhino and Brian Myers are strong favorites based on their stories. Heath needs to win to impress Impact brass for a job. If David Hasselhoff and other celebrity endorsements for #Heath4Impact didn’t work, then kicking butt just might. I can see Myers’ feud with Tommy Dreamer escalating to Old School Rules, so Myers will need to win a regular singles affair by cheating to get there.

Jordynne Grace versus Tenille Dashwood and the four-way are tough to call. I think Dashwood and Kaleb Konley will have a trick up their sleeve for victory, and I’ll go with Karl Anderson to triumph over the others. Dashwood would set herself up as a future fresh title challenger, and Anderson would give the Good Brothers momentum to win the tag titles at Bound for Glory.

Do you agree with Impact’s list for greatest matches from Victory Road? What are your predictions for tonight?
