Johnny Impact & Taya Valkyrie leave Homecoming both champions

@Stella_Cheeks

At the end of tonight’s Homecoming pay-per-view (PPV), which emanated from the Asylum in Nashville, Tennessee, both Johnny Impact and his wife Taya Valkyrie are champions.

Johnny defeated challenger Brian Cage in the main event, but it wasn’t without controversy.

Johnny’s fellow cast members from Survivor tried to jump the barricade at one point after Cage shoved one of them, and the referee had to deal with that nonsense. During that time, Cage hit his Drill Claw finisher, and had Johnny pinned for way longer than three.

When the referee finally got back in the ring, Johnny kicked out. The actual finish was a sunset flip powerbomb cover from Johnny where Cage’s shoulder may have actually been up.

Taya’s win against champion Tessa Blanchard wasn’t squeaky clean either. Tessa continued to get into the face of the special guest referee Gail Kim when she couldn’t put the match away. When she eventually tried to choke Gail, the Hall of Famer had enough and delivered her Eat Defeat finisher, leading to Taya’s Road to Valhalla finisher, and the 1-2-3.

Circumstances aside, the husband and wife champions celebrated at the end of the show. That celebration was short lived; however, as Killer Kross attacked Johnny from behind and then powerbombed Taya into the crowd.

In other championship news, LAX successfully retained their tag team championships against the Lucha Brothers in a great match.

Also, Rich Swann won the vacated X Division title in the Ultimate X match, which was also bonkers.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable show. You can find the full run down of the matches at the live blog here.
