Impact Wrestling returns tonight (Sept. 6) from the Rebel Complex in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is the third episode from the most recent set of tapings.
Here’s what’s advertised for tonight:
- Moose explains his actions
- Su Yung vs. Tessa Blanchard (c) for the Knockouts title
- Rich Swann vs. Petey Williams
- oVe & Sami Callihan vs. Zach Wentz, Trey Miguel, & Ace Austin
- Who called King and Konnan?
- Desi Hit Squad vs. Grado & Joe Hendry
As per usual, here are our five questions about Impact tonight:
1) Will Moose be better as a heel?
Last week, Moose turned on Eddie Edwards to align with Austin Aries and Killer Kross. This is the first time he’s been heel in Impact.
Will it push him to the top?
Moose has always been booked well in the promotion, but he never had the feel of a big superstar. Even his title feud with Austin Aries for Slammiversary didn’t have him feeling like a legit challenger.
Perhaps a shift to the side of villainy will change that. The big guy has a chance to turn it on as a vicious heel and take himself that extra bit to make him feel like a big deal. Tonight’s explanation for turning on Eddie Edwards will give us a hint if he plays a more natural heel.
2) Where does Su Yung go from here?
If I had to guess, Su Yung isn’t winning her title back from Tessa Blanchard tonight. The young Blanchard is clearly the future of the division and someone they will be more than happy representing them throughout the indies.
So what happens to the former champ if she is unsuccessful tonight? Impact does a great job not forgetting about former champions so what will they have in store for her?
There’s always Rosemary as her eventual feud, but that’s probably not happening soon. Should could continue feuding with Allie but I bet Allie feuds with Blanchard. Outside Kiera Hogan, there aren’t many Knockouts readily available to slot into a feud with the Undead Bride.
3) Who is above King and Konnan?
It looked like the war between LAX and the OGz was getting out of control. Hell, weeks back, a child was struck by a car that the OGz was driving when they were looking for revenge on LAX.
Before things got even further out of hand, both King and Konnan, the leaders of the OGz and LAX respectively, got a call from a higher up. After they received that call, they told their soldiers to not do anything until further directives.
Who is above them in the LAX hierarchy? Is it someone we know, like Low-Ki? (Though last we saw of him, he was on the same level as the others.) Is it an entirely new person?
I know I would definitely pop if it were Dario Cueto, but that wouldn’t make sense given where Lucha Underground is in their storytelling. A man can hope though.
4) Who keeps losing?
The Desi Hit Squad and the team of Grado and Joe Hendry could both use a win. Only one gets one tonight.
The Desi Hit Squad have lost two in a row and each loss earns them a beating from their manager Gama Singh. Grado and Hendry are trying to salvage their friendship since Katarina has come between them.
Hendry and Grado have the advantage of getting the bump from Scarlett Bordeaux last week, even though that didn’t seem to go too well. It may be the fear of Gama Singh may give the Hit Squad the advantage.
5) Are we getting a heel from this Petey Williams/Rich Swann exhibition?
Rich Swann picked up a sudden win against Petey Williams last week. This week, Petey has requested a rematch.
While this could become a series of matches based in respect, one of these guys turning heel could turn this into a good feud. Honestly, I think either man could do well in the role and it could spice up an X Division of babyfaces.
Impact Wrestling return s tonight at 8 ET on Pop TV. Who’s watching?
