The numbers are in for this week’s episode (Aug. 2) of Impact Wrestling, and viewership took a significant drop this week. The viewer total was 248K, all the way down from 299K.
Among the coveted 18-49 demographic, the rating number dropped from 0.07 to 0.05.
They advertised a championship match this week, but it was never a championship match anyone was going to take seriously. They also advertised a tag match between the Lucha Bros and oVe and a women’s tag, but nothing that was “must see.”
There wasn’t much in the way of competition. In fact the top rated cable show was Flip or Flop on House and Garden TV. Maybe people aren’t watching as much TV in the dog days of summer. But when those days are over, Impact will be up against the NFL, which isn’t any better. (Note: there was a pre-season football game this night which pulled in about 6.5 million viewers that certainly could have made a dent in Impact’s numbers, though these were definitely not the numbers the regular season puts up.)
Next week, they have a more legitimate title match between the champion Austin Aries and Eddie Edwards.
The numbers from the last month:
- This week: 248K / 0.05
- July 26: 299K / 0.07
- July 19: 275K / 0.06
- July 12: 285K / 0.08
- July 5: 304K / 0.07
