The numbers are in for this week’s episode (Aug. 23) of Impact Wrestling, and viewership improved again this week... if ever so slightly. The audience rose by about 2000, to 212,000. Overall, the past month of competing against preseason football has brought the show its worst numbers of 2018, and with games that count starting in two weeks, these figures might be the best they do for the remainder of the year.
This week’s card promised, and delivered, plenty of violence, but it doesn’t seem to have paid off. Even with the uptick in viewers, the rating among 18 - 49 year olds went the other way, dipping down a tenth of a point to .05.
Next week has been branded #Rebirth and is advertising big X-Division and Knockouts title matches, as well as a tag main event with World championship implications. There will still be a full slate of NFL pre-season action for Impact to contend with, though, so we’ll see if it makes a difference.
The numbers from the last month:
- This week: 212K / 0.05
- Aug. 16: 210K / 0.06
- Aug. 9: 168K / 0.04
- Aug 2: 248K / 0.05
- July 26: 299K / 0.07
