Impact Wrestling Results, Live Blog (May 10, 2018): Pentagon Jr. vs. Eli Drake

Impact Wrestling is back tonight (May 10) from Orlando, Florida and will be airing on Pop TV at 8 PM EST. This is your spot for the live updates and to talk about it with your fellow fans.

Tonight Eli Drake will challenge Pentagon Jr. for the Impact World title. Also, we’ll get fallout from a recent attack on Don Callis by Sami Callihan, LAX will face Andrew Everett & DJZ, Taiji Ishimori, El Hijo de Fantasma, Aerostar, and Drago will battle for an X Division #1 contenders spot, and we’ll hear from Tessa Blanchard.

We'll be here at 8 EST when Impact starts, so come join us!

Josh Updates us on the Callis/Callihan situation

They start with Josh Mathews recapping Don Callis’ beating at the hands of Callihan as Don was getting a “Comeback of the year” award. Josh says that Sami did this because it was Don threw in the towel in for Eddie Edwards at WrestleCon. After the show in New Orleans, Sami cut a promo on Callihan and then threatened on social media.

Then they show footage of the attack. Sami attacked him with the baseball bat AND the award, leaving the man bloodied hanging on the ropes.

Josh says right now, the senior members of management are in a meeting discussing what they’re going to do about Callihan. As soon as the meeting is done, Impact will bring us that.

Recap of Eli Drakes road to tonight’s title shot.

Z & E vs. LAX

So many initials.

Just Mathews on commentary for now.

Well paced, fast action, though Mathews spent much of the time focusing on the Callihan situation and the story of the people being attacked backstage. At least for the first half of the match.

In the end, LAX is going for Street Sweeper on DJZ. However, he rolls up Ortiz out of a frankensteiner while Everett tosses Santana out of the ring.

The losing streak continues for LAX.

Z & E def. LAX

Joseph Park is helping Grado warm up for his first match back. Park asks where his girlfriend is. After Grado makes an excuse, she actually shows up. Her name is Katarina. (It’s former Knockout Winter.) Park doesn’t get why she’s with him.

Austin Aries cuts a backstage interview saying he’s going to keep a close eye on tonight’s match because the winner is the person he’s going to reclaim his other world title from.

Rohit Raju vs. Grado

Grado has his new lady with him.

Rohit gets the jump on Grado before he turns around.

Raju tries to German Suplex Grado but can’t get him up. Grado hip checks him.

Grado goes to the second rope but Rohit pulls him down and goes on the attack for a lengthy period of time.

The Scot eventually fights back and the two go back and forth for a little bit. Grado wins with a corner cannonball.

Grado def. Raju

After the match, he kisses his girlfriend Katarina and then faints from it. But he’s up quickly to celebrate.

Grado goes backstage and sees Joseph Park is attacked by the unknown assailant that leaves the calling card.

Tessa Blanchard video package/interview. She talks about how she wants to be the best in the world at everything she does. Talks up how she’s a third generation talent and is better than everyone in that locker room.

Scott Steiner and Eli Drake are interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell backstage. Drake calls himself the new belt collect in town. Steiner tells him that game recognizes game and he has his back tonight. Eli thanks him for this but tells him he has to handle this on his own. Steiner seems a bit offended that Drake doesn’t want his help.

Drago vs. Aerostar vs. El Hijo de Fantasma vs. Taiji Ishimori

Winner faces Sydal for the X Division title. This will be under lucha rules.

An all over the place match given the style. In the end, it was El Hijo de Fantasma with the Thrill of the Kill on Aerostar for the win.

Fantasma becomes #1 contender

Looks like Eddie Edwards charged into the management meeting as Impact went to break.

When they come back, Eddie is yelling at Callis. Callis is saying “It’s done. He’s fired.” Edwards says he owes Callihan for what he’s done. We hear D’Amore shout “Fine. He stays. But whatever you do, don’t do it here!” (If that’s the case, why can’t they fire him?)

Josh Mathews talks about this a bit, saying it sounds like Impact management is washing their hands of this.

Moose fights Kongo Kong in Indiana at a House of Hardcore show. It looks like Moose could win this, but Jimmy Jacobs hits him with a chair, resulting in a DQ. With Moose distracted by Jacobs, Kong attacks. But Moose fights back and clotheslines Kongo out of the ring. Jimmy Jacobs decides to take Kongo into the back.

Backstage, KM tries to hype up Fallah Bahh into getting shape. We see a training montage of KM eating while Bahh is doing some cardio.

We see Cage fighting Takasha Sugiura in Pro Wrestling NOAH. Brian Cage eventually wins with the Drill Claw but it was a good match.

GWN match of an old Ultimate X match with Suicide, Alex Shelley, Chris Saban, Jay Lethal. and Consequences Creed! It’s Xavier Woods! It’s only a couple minutes showing the end of the match.

We see a video of Allie looking the mirror while they play clips of the Rosemary/Su Yung event from last week. She opens the door to find a ragged doll with a note pinned to it. She reads it and has somewhat of a blank stare, as if something is affecting her mind.

Eli Drake vs. Pentagon Jr. (c) for the world championship

Pentagon going for the arm breaker early but Eli Drake powers out of it.

We see Aries watching backstage eating a banana. He doesn’t have his arm in a sling this week.

We learn during the match that House of Hardcore offered to host a street fight between Eddie Edwards and Sami Callihan. Also, Allie will have to watch the funeral of Rosemary. And Matt Sydal will defend his X Division title against Fantasma.

Fans chanting for Pentagon to break Drake’s arm. However as Pentagon is on the top rope, Drake runs up to meet him and toss him off the top.

Drake goes for the Gravy Train but Pentagon rolls through and hits him with a short enziguri. Drake misses a springboard Moonsault... Pentagon Driver. 1-2-3.

Pentagon def. Drake to retain his title

That’s the show, folks. Thanks for watching with us!
