Impact Wrestling started to build out from their Redemption pay-per-view (PPV) on Monday with the first night of their second taping under the direction of Don Callis and Scott D’Amore. Their show Sunday got high marks, including from our own Kyle Decker, and Impact looks to continue that momentum this week in Orlando.
These results are compiled from a variety of live reports - including Twitter accounts of fans who were at Universal Studios, like TheRogueFan and Jacob Cohen - which are subject to a couple levels of interpretation, and final production of the material for airing on television usually changes context, so...
Take these with a grain of salt, is all I’m saying. Still the big matches, winners/losers and story beats are here.
Filmed Monday, April 23:
- Rohit Raju defeats Suicide (Xplosion)
- Eli Drake and Scott Steiner def. LAX to retain the Impact Tag Titles; Steiner makes a joke afterwards about Konnan not being here because there was a sale on burritos at Taco Bell (not sure if this is for air or just the live crowd). Drake reminds us he can cash in his Feast or Fired briefcase on the World champ whenever he wants.
- That brings out Austin Aries (arm in a sling and still carrying his Grand Championship), who says his is the most important belt on Impact because he’s got it. He’s coming to get his other belt back from whoever is World Champ. New Impact Champ Pentagon, Jr. comes out to that cue. He and A-Double get jumped by Drake and Steiner, but fight them off. Aries and Penta stare each other down to end the segment.
- Allie def. Taya Valkyrie to retain the Knockouts title
- A “Legion of Undead Brides” bring a casket to ringside. The lights go out and Su Yung attacks Allie. Lights go out again and Rosemary is there to stand up to Su. Darkness again, and Yung is gone.
- Brian Cage def. Trevor Lee via pinfall
- Eddie Edwards cuts an in-ring promo about having put Sami Callihan in the hospital. He plans to send oVe there, too. He calls out the Crists, saying he’ll drive to Ohio and put thir wives in the hospital in they don’t show up. Sami appears on the big screen. He’s wearing a patient’s gown and looking for Alisha Edwards (also inadvertantly sent to the hospital by Eddie). He finds her sleeping in a bed and Eddie races out of the Impact Zone to get to the scene.
- Moose def. Braxton Sutter; He cuts a promo saying he’s coming for Pentagon, Jr’s title.
- Matt Sydal def. Taiji Ishimori to retain the X-Division Championship.
- Eli Drake is back, saying he gave Steiner “the week off”. He tells Penta he has one week before he’s cashing in. The Impact World Champ comes out for a stare down.
- DJZ, Andrew Everett and Dezmond Xavier def. Drago, Aerostar and El Hijo Del Fantasma in a Lucha Libre Rules match
- oVe def. KM and Fallah Bahh
- Rosemary vs. Su Yung is announced but never starts, as Su takes out Rosemary before the bell and calls out the Undead Brides. Allie to the rescue, but she’s overtaken by the Brides. Yung mists Rosemary, then DVDs her off the stage through a table. Su and her crew put Rosemary in the casket while Allie looks on, distraught
- Pentagon, Jr. def. Eli Drake to retain the World Title; Austin Aries was on commentary.
