Impact Wrestling returns tonight (Nov. 22) from Sam’s Town Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is the second episode from the most recent set of tapings.
Advertised for tonight:
- Eli Drake’s Gravy Train Turkey Trot
- The Fate of the X Division title revealed
As per usual, here are our questions about Impact tonight:
1) Who wears the turkey suit?
Eli Drake’s Gravy Train Turkey Trot is a multi-person tag where someone on the losing team has to don the dreaded turkey suit.
The turkey suit is an Impact tradition, with men like AJ Styles, Rob Terry, and Alex Shelley all having to don the suit. We don’t know who will be on the teams tonight, but we can venture some guesses of who may have to suffer the humiliation.
This honor usually goes to a heel and not usually a top guy. Though Grado, who is always a babyface, had to wear it a couple years ago, so it’s certainly not heel exclusive.
KM & Fallah Bahh are babyfaces, but they do enough comedy that either of them could have to wear the suit. I can see any member of oVe, including Sami Callihan, having to as well. (However, if I had to guess a Crist, it’d be Jake.) It would hurt his gimmick a bit, but Matt Sydal could fit the bill. It’s not like he’s been winning as of late. Speaking of not winning, Trevor Lee is also a viable option.
If I had to pick dark horse candidates, I’d go with King or Moose, but they’re too high up on the card for the suit.
2) Is it tournament time?
Brian Cage relinquished the X Division title last week to challenge for the world title at Homecoming. That means it’s time to crown a new champion.
Chances are they’re going to have a tournament that will conclude at Homecoming to crown a new champ. It’s the more common way to go about it, but it’s also the best. Another option is qualifiers for an Ultimate X match at Homecoming, which is also possible if they’re going with the old school vibe at their next PPV.
A tournament makes the most sense in the end. The X Division with Cage as champ suffered. He rarely had title matches and the division was rarely highlighted. A tournament would do the job of reminding us who ever considers themselves an X Division athlete.
3) Is this going to be a content light episode?
The reason there are only three questions this week instead of five is because I bet this is going to be a very light episode.
There are only two things advertised. One is the holiday gimmick match and the other is something that can be covered with a backstage announcement. They probably don’t think people are going to be tuning in at 10 pm on Thanksgiving night. Most people will be in tryptophan induced comas by that point. Last year was a really light episode, and that’s when they aired at 8 pm.
Plus they have to fill eight weeks and only taped three days, which would normally amount to six episodes. A filler episode here and one at the end of the year would make up that gap.
Impact Wrestling returns tonight at 10 pm ET on Pop TV. Who’s watching?
