GFW will crown a new heavyweight champion in a 20-man gauntlet match next week

@ImpactWrestling

Coming into Impact’s Destination X special tonight, we knew that the GFW title was vacant ever since the company stripped Alberto El Patron of that title due to his incident with Paige in an Orlando airport. What we didn’t know was how they were going to crown the next champion. They answered that question tonight.

After a segment involving Bruce Prichard being fired by Jim Cornette (more about that here), Cornette revealed that next week there will be a 20-man gauntlet match to crown the next champion.

In GFW, their gauntlet match is more of a Royal Rumble style battle royal, sometimes with the final two having a normal match. It’s not a series of matches that a gauntlet match usually refers to.

We don’t yet know who is in the match outside Low-Ki, who gets to enter at #20 since he was set to face Patron in a title match tonight.

We’ll find out next week who the next GFW champion is, though you can probably find out tomorrow by searching for the spoilers if you so choose.

Find all results from Destination X here.

Update: They announced that E3, Moose, Eli Drake, and Chris Adonis are participants as well. Eli Drake has the #1 spot.
