Impact Wrestling spoilers from July 3: Slammiversary fallout, former ROH wrestler debuts, star announces retirement

Impact Wrestling on Twitter

Coming out of this past Sunday’s Slammiversary pay-per-view (PPV) - and now bearing the GFW logo - Impact Wrestling is filming new episodes this week... including for the show which will air this Thursday night.

Here’s how they’ll follow-up the title unifications and other big happenings from their 15th Anniversary show.

Filmed Monday, July 3 for broadcast July 6:

- Alberto El Patron comes out for a celebration with his father (Dos Caras) and brother (Hijo del Dos Caras), which is of course interrupted by Bobby Lashley. They argue and have to be separated, setting up Lashley’s rematch and the main event of the show.

- Jeremy Borash announces the return of the X Division Cup, an 8 man tournament featuring wrestlers from The Crash, AAA, NOAH and Lucha Underground.

- Sonjay Dutt def. Caleb Konley in a non-title match. Afterwards, Trevor Lee attacked and stole the X-Division title, proclaiming himself the new champ. Dutt was looking for it when he came too after the assault.

- Eddie Edwards, Veterans of War and Grado def. Eli Drake, Chris Adonis, Fallah Bahh and Mario Bokara. There was a follow-up angle where Joseph Park showed up to show Grado some paperwork that upset him, and then they left. Speculation is this is a story inspired by Grado’s real-life Visa issues.

- Matt Sydal def. Braxton Sutter via pinfall following a Shooting Star Press after Sutter dominated the match. Allie attempted to console her man, but he brushed her off.

- The Super X Cup field is introduced as: ACH, Andrew Everett, Desmond Xavier, Idris Abraham, Drago, Davey Richards, Sammy Guevara and Taiji Ishimori.

- Desmond Xavier def. Idris Abraham via pinfall in World Super X Cup action

- Sienna def. Rebel via submission (not clear if this Sienna’s Unified title was on the line)

- Taiji Ishimori and Drago def. Davey Richards and Sammy Guevara via pinfall following a 450 splash (Ishimori on Guevara); this was likely for Xplosion

- Gail Kim announces she is retiring at the end of 2017 due to back issues, but plans to return to the ring soon so she can go out on top, claiming the title one last time before hanging up her boots

- ACH def Andrew Everett via pinfall in World Super X Cup action

- Lashley controlled much of the action in the main event, with Alberto getting spots of offense in. He’s eventually laid out with a Spear, however, and LAX hits the ring to attack Lashley. Konnan declared El Patron their captain as they pretty much carried him to the back. Alberto and Lashley look confused and the champ never confirms he’s a LAX member, so...

More taping today, which GFW plans to wrap up in time for fans to catch fireworks at Universal Studios.
