Impact Wrestling returns tonight (June 22) with their third episode from Mumbai, India. Here are our five questions about Impact tonight.
1) Will Rosemary show up?
Last week, Sienna and Laurel Van Ness challenged Allie and her new friend (maybe?) and Knockouts champion Rosemary to a tag match. However, Rosemary wasn’t there when the challenge was issued, so there’s a chance she doesn’t bother to show.
The Demon Assassin and the bubbly Allie have been coming to each other’s aid lately. First, Rosemary chased of Sienna and Van Ness when they were beating up Allie. The following week, Allie returned the favor when it was Rosemary in trouble. Given they already seem to have each other’s backs, Rosemary should show up. But then again, she’s a bit unhinged and it’s entirely possible she and the voices in her head have a different plan. If that’s the case, Allie will be fed to the wolves tonight.
This odd couple pairing and growing relationship is a highlight of Impact and is definitely something to keep an eye on.
2) Are the matches set for Slammiversary?
The main event of Slammiversary has changed around for a bit, but now it feels set. Alberto El Patron vs. Bobby Lashley are advertised to go title vs. title in the main event of the July 2 pay-per-view (PPV).
Tonight, they will be facing each other in tag action. Patron will have James Storm in his corner while Lashley will be teaming with Ethan Carter III. Carter and Storm will be facing each other with a strap match at Slammiversary. Given the stipulations for both, it’s getting more doubtful that the main event will turn into a triple threat or fatal 4-way.
With two weeks to go, it’s always possible they change it. A couple years ago, they added Matt Hardy to the Bound for Glory title match on the go-home show. But it finally feels like they’ve settled in promoting their two top matches for the PPV this time around.
3) Will we get another mobile Scott Steiner promo tonight?
Last week, the announcer feud actually delivered when they aired a video of Jeremy Borash and Joseph Park getting a video call from opponent Scott Steiner. Big Poppa Pump proceeded to run them during in a promo that pretty much consisted of him hating lawyers and hating fat asses. Peak Steiner.
With only two episodes left until Slammiversary, hopefully we get at least one more wild Steiner promo. The best part about bringing Mr. Poppa Pump in is to get to hear him rail on the mic, even if it is via mobile.
4) What next for the X Division?
Recently, the X Division has been focused on the brief Sonjay Dutt/Low Ki feud instead of Slammiversary. That’s not a knock against them. Sonjay winning the title for the first time should have taken focus. If anything it should have taken more focus. And if they weren’t in India so he could win it in his home country, it could have been the Slammiversary match.
While it’s not listed on their website, I believe they’ve said on the program that it would be an ultimate X match. Which means that the minimum they have to do is let us know who is in the match.
However, it’d be nice if they try to build a story around this. The follow up to Low Ki/Dutt is obviously there. There aren’t any other stories currently in the division, but with two weeks, they can start planting seeds for things we should watch for.
Tonight, there is a six man elimination match consisting of Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, Suicide, Trevor Lee, Braxton Sutter, & Matt Sydal. Perhaps this will help decide who gets to compete for the X Division title at Slammiversary in some way.
5) Who is Moose’s mystery partner?
That’s the question they are asking for this show. There’s a good chance you already know it, but I won’t spoil it for you here for those who still don’t know.
Of course, there should be a follow up question to any mystery partner. Mainly, that question is “Why is he teaming with Moose?” Is it someone who has issues with Eli Drake and Chris Adonis as well, someone who is friends with Moose, or someone who just wants to beat someone up?
Impact Wrestling airs tonight at 8 EST on Pop TV. Who’s watching?
