Impact Wrestling returns tonight (Oct. 12) with their ninth episode from their most recent set of tapings.
Here’s what’s advertised for tonight:
- Johnny Impact vs. Garza Jr. in a #1 contenders match
- Rosemary in action
- Moose returns to American Fight Team’s gym
- Sienna, Caleb Konley, & Texano vs. Allie, Dezmond Xavier, & James Storm
Here are our five questions regarding tonight’s show:
1) What’s the plan for Garza Jr.?
To be honest, I’d be really surprised if Garza Jr. wins tonight to earn the right to face Eli Drake at Bound for Glory (BFG) for the title. Maybe there’s a non-finish that extends this, but my bet is a Johnny victory tonight.
So what does that mean for Garza? The man is in a match to main event their biggest PPV so clearly they think highly of him, even if he isn’t likely to win. So they will find something for him at BFG. Will they go back to his feud with Braxton Sutter? Return to tagging with Laredo Kid? Do something with the X Division?
Garza Jr. is a charismatic wrestler and hopefully they have something for him. I’d like to see him in a one on one match with a small feud building to it, but they’d need to start telling that story very soon.
But no matter what happens, Garza Jr. will be tearing his pants off.
2) Is tonight the night Rosemary vs. Taya heats up?
Rosemary and Taya are the only two Knockouts who aren’t part of the Knockout’s title match at BFG. That’s likely because they’re going to fight each other at the PPV.
On her debut, Ms. Valkyrie laid out Rosemary. The Demon Assassin isn’t going to let that slide. However, ever since that first night, their issues have been on ice. Rosemary will be in action tonight. After she picks up a win against whomever she’s facing (likely an enhancement wrestler), that would be a good time to get this feud cooking.
3) Is Moose’s back up tonight an MMA competitor?
Last week, Moose stormed into the American Top Team gym to confront Lashley and got the crap kicked out of him by all of American Top Team. This week, he’s going back.
But now, he’s bringing back up. We just don’t know who.
After thinking about it for a bit, I feel a wrestler didn’t really fit. It’s always been about Moose and Lashley. There aren’t any Impact wrestlers that would make sense. However bringing in an MMA athlete would.
This will most definitely lead to a match at BFG, where they like to get some cross promotion. A rival Bellator MMA athlete could fit that bill. Plus, King Mo, who was part of Slammiversary with Lashley this summer, has been part of this story as well. It’s entirely possible this can lead to a Lashley/King Mo vs. Moose/Another MMA guy tag team match.
4) Where’s does this Triple A/GFW feud go next?
Last week, EC3 and James Storm lost to Triple A wrestlers Texano and El Hijo de Fantasma. The Triple A wrestlers had help from their promotional ally Pagano. This clearly will lead to Bound for Glory, but what’s the end result and how will it get there?
Eddie Edwards was part of this feud very early on but hasn’t been on Impact much these tapings. Will he come back and will this turn into a 3 on 3 match for BFG? Honestly, that sounds a bit underwhelming since they just had a tag match. Adding another two guys isn’t too exciting.
If they do go that way, they’ll have to add a stipulation to make things interesting. Perhaps a stip that the Triple A guys have to leave if they lose, but I would hate to lose all that talent.
5) So Dezmond Xavier is finally back?
At Destination X, Dezmond Xavier won the Super X Cup tournament. And he promised big things afterwards.
Then he wasn’t on TV for two months.
He finally pops back tonight as part of a random mix six person tag. If I recall correctly, he should have an X Division title shot coming to him since he won that tournament. But right know, we don’t know what is up for the X Division at Bound for Glory.
Impact Wrestling is back tonight at 8 EST on Pop TV. Who’s watching?
