Let’s Say Nice Things About... TNA in 2002

Now more than ever, the world needs a good dose of positivity. We here at Cageside Seats will do our small part to bring that positivity on a daily basis. Throughout the entirety of 2017, we’ll say something nice about wrestling and everything around it, past, present, and future.

TNA just recently celebrated their fifteenth anniversary, one many (including this Cagesider) thought would be nigh impossible. Especially with everything that went down in TNA’s first year, which is our subject for today.

I will say this: it gave a lot of people WWE passed over in the wake of the sale of WCW a second chance. Some landed there because of their own circumstances (Jeff Jarrett, Scott Hall, Brian Christopher, Sean Waltman). Some were looking to break through on the national stage (AJ Styles and Ron Killings most notably).

For better or worse, it also gave quite the playbook on what not to do for future wrestling promoters (looking at you, Dupp Cup and gun-toting midgets).

And if it weren’t for Dixie Carter, her father Bob, and Panda Energy, TNA wouldn’t have a second year, much less fourteen more.
