Let’s Say Nice Things About... King of the Ring

Now more than ever, the world needs a good dose of positivity. We here at Cageside Seats will do our small part to bring that positivity on a daily basis. Throughout the entirety of 2017, we’ll say something nice about wrestling and everything around it, past, present, and future.

As a reminder, only positive comments are allowed here. No negative comments, no troll comments, no back-handed compliments. None of that here. You have the rest of the site for that. Any comments that are not in the spirit of this feature will be flagged, deleted, and posters of said comments may be subjected to a ban.

Today’s subject: the King of the Ring tournament. In the old days, the tournament would be held sometime this month, and it was for nearly a decade, even though the concept dates as far back as 1985.

As a heel plot device, the King of the Ring is about as good as it gets: King Harley Race. Macho KING Randy Savage. The King of Harts, Owen Hart. King Helmsley. King Regal. King Barrett.

I’m a sucker for a good wrestling tournament, and King of the Ring most years was a damn good wrestling tournament.

Of course, we can’t talk about King of the Ring without talking about the King of All Kings.

All because someone wanted to say goodbye to his friends, we get one of the most baller moments in wrestling history.

Your turn. Say something nice about the King of the Ring tournament.

Got a suggestion for a future “Let’s Say Nice Things About...”? Hit me up on the Twitter gimmick @notoriouseddie. I may not always respond, but I will read it.
