Let’s Say Nice Things About... Batista

Batista

In an effort to bring some positivity to professional wrestling—and the world for that matter—Cageside Seats and its community will say nice things about people and things in wrestling every single day throughout 2017.

Remember, only positive comments allowed here. Negativity will not be tolerated, and that includes back-handed compliments and troll comments. Any comments that are not in the spirit of this feature will be flagged, deleted, and posters of said comments may be subjected to a ban.

If you all check your calendars, today is Cinco de Mayo, which celebrates not Mexico’s independence, but Mexico’s Army scoring one of the biggest upsets in the history of anything, defeating the French at the Battle of Puebla. Today’s subject is not related to that.

Today is also the day Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 gets its worldwide release. Today’s subject is related to that. Our subject is former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion, but these days, you know him as Drax the Destroyer, Dave Bautista.

I’ll start. Dave’s an example of persevering through the worst of circumstances (divorced parents, seeing multiple murders in front of his house at a young age, stealing cars at age 13).

He also is the rare example of beginning a wrestling career after their 30th birthday and still making it big. He was also the beneficiary of one of the greatest storylines of the 21st century: the evolution of Dave Batista from enforcer to badass unleashed animal.

“Hollywood” Batista was also really good in its short times (both in 2010 and 2014). But he has perhaps the greatest exit (non-Daniel Bryan division) in recent memory:

Look at this guy. This is a guy that knows he’s going to make a lot of money... and a crowd full of people happy for him. And a man that couldn’t give a damn less.

Also makes an amazing Drax the Destroyer.

Your turn. Say something nice about “The Animal”.
