In an effort to bring some positivity to professional wrestling—and the world for that matter—Cageside Seats and its community will say nice things about people and things in wrestling every single day throughout 2017.
A reminder of the rules: only positivity allowed here. No back-handed compliments, and CERTAINLY NO NEGATIVITY. If you don’t have something nice to say, keep it to yourself, or take it elsewhere. Negative comments will be deleted and you may be subjected to a ban. Cool? Cool.
Today’s subject: former WWE Divas Champion and ex-exhibitionist on TV Kelly Kelly.
I’ll start. Imagine at age 19, you’re plucked from a pretty decent modeling career and you’re tasked with becoming the face of the WWE Divas division with no formal wrestling training—and you have to learn to wrestle while you’re on the job. All the while, you’ll be criticized six ways to Sunday by anyone who is even remotely outside the WWE bubble—and even within said bubble. You wouldn’t sign up for that job, would you?
Barbie Blank did, and she did it with a convincing smile that could light up a room. She’ll never be looked at as an all-time great, but I have a feeling she’s okay with that. She got out of the business at a time when most women begin hitting their prime, and as far as I know, she’s not bitter about her time in the business.
Your turn. Say something nice about Kelly Kelly.
And if you have a suggestion for a future “Let’s Say Nice Things About...”, hit me up on Twitter @notoriouseddie. I promise I won’t bite.
