In an effort to bring some positivity to professional wrestling—and the world for that matter—Cageside Seats and its community will say nice things about people and things in wrestling every single day throughout 2017.
A reminder of the rules: only positivity allowed here. No back-handed compliments, and CERTAINLY NO NEGATIVITY. If you don’t have something nice to say, keep it to yourself, or take it elsewhere. Negative comments will be deleted and you may be subjected to a ban. Cool? Cool.
Today’s subject: seeing as today is the one-year anniversary of his retirement (more on that in today’s TDIPWH), former ROH and WWE world champion and Smackdown general manager Daniel Bryan.
I’ll break the ice: I didn’t get to see his prime years, but from what I saw, Daniel Bryan was one of the absolute best in-ring talents in the history of the wrestling business. His willingness to give 150% of himself every match may have ended his career prematurely, but he left behind a lot of lasting memories.
His rise to his moment of ultimate glory at Wrestlemania XXX will go down as one of the greatest stories of this or any generation.
Also, his character work will probably be looked at as underrated as the years pass.
I miss him in-ring, but it’s still good to see him on TV. Many of us want to see him back, but personally, I want to see him happy and healthy and able to raise his new child. Or children.
Ok... trying not to cry here. Now it’s your turn. Say something nice about “our boy D-Bri”.
And if you have a suggestion for a future “Let’s Say Nice Things About...”, hit me up on Twitter @notoriouseddie. I promise I won’t bite.
