In an effort to bring some positivity to professional wrestling—and the world for that matter—Cageside Seats and its community will say nice things about people and things in wrestling every single day throughout 2017.
A reminder of the rules: only positivity allowed here. No back-handed compliments, and CERTAINLY NO NEGATIVITY. If you don’t have something nice to say, keep it to yourself, or take it elsewhere. Negative comments will be deleted and you may be subjected to a ban. Cool? Cool.
Today’s subject: former Smackdown and RAW general manager, manager, and widow of Eddie Guerrero, Vickie Guerrero.
I’ll start: Vickie could have gotten by for the rest of her life simply on being the widow of Eddie Guerrero and an ambassador for WWE while the company took care of her.
What she did instead was become one of the biggest heat magnets in recent memory. Just her presence drove fans to a wide range of emotions, including hate, rage, and changing the channel. And make no mistake, she took a lot of heat (including the wrong kind), and she faced it head-on. And this was a woman that was called most every demeaning name possible on-air. And probably off-air.
Even after all of that, she ended up walking away from the business as one of the most beloved performers ever.
EXCUSE ME! Say something nice about Vickie Guerrero.
And if you have a suggestion for a future “Let’s Say Nice Things About...”, hit me up on Twitter @notoriouseddie. I promise I won’t bite.
