Royal Rumble Rewind 2002: It's All About The Game

In this series, we look back on every Royal Rumble event to date. Up next: Royal Rumble 2002, featuring Triple H winning his first and only Rumble after returning from his quadriceps surgery.

Event: Royal Rumble 2002
Date: January 20, 2002
Location: Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia
Time: 1:09:22
Winner: Triple H
Last Eliminated: Kurt Angle
Iron Man: Stone Cold Steve Austin
Quickest Out: Booker T
Most Eliminations: Stone Cold Steve Austin/Undertaker

After returning from a near year-long absence to get surgery and extensive rehab to heal his quadriceps, Triple H returned to Monday Night Raw in early January by declaring he would enter the Royal Rumble match.

Naturally, that meant he was winning.

Sure enough, he goes over on every big name in the book. This was a star-studded show but one that featured only two wrestlers going longer than 20 minutes inside the match, Austin and Triple H.

It also featured the return of Mr. Perfect, the most infamous elimination of all time when Maven sent Undertaker out, and Booker T winning quickest eliminated by doing a spinaroonie and getting stunned out of the ring.

Enjoy!
