Chris Jericho is getting a title shot at AEW Battle of the Belts IX

AEW Worlds End

AEW has confirmed that Battle of the Belts IX will take place next Saturday night (Jan. 13) at 10 pm ET following Collision.

Battle of the Belts has quickly gained a reputation as an inconsequential show that features matches with obvious wins for the champs, and a show that is devoid of most of the top stars in AEW. But that might be changing this time around, because top star Chris Jericho is getting a tag team title shot next Saturday night.

It will be Le Sex Gods (Jericho & Sammy Guevara) challenging Big Bill & Ricky Starks for the gold at Battle of the Belts. The match was made official during tonight’s (Jan. 6) Collision after Big and Ricky laid down the challenge:

This will be Jericho’s first match since he was heavily booed as a babyface at Worlds End. AEW President Tony Khan was asked about Jericho and rumors of sexual harassment at the media scrum following that show, but not much has developed on that story since then.

It will be interesting to see how fans react to Jericho next Wednesday on Dynamite and then when he gets back in the ring at Battle of the Belts on Saturday night.

How do you see this one playing out, Cagesiders?
