The Cope Open is now a thing in AEW

On this week’s (Jan. 3) episode of AEW Dynamite, TNT Champion Christian Cage said that his former best friend Adam Copeland goes to the back of the line for a title shot after the events that transpired at Worlds End.

Copeland responded to Cage on tonight’s (Jan. 6) episode of Collision by saying even though he should automatically get a rematch for being the former champ, he doesn’t mind working hard to climb back to the top and earn it. Thus begins The Cope Open, Adam’s version of an open challenge.

Griff Garrison accepted the challenge. The low-carder put up a hell of a fight but ultimately tapped out to the Rated R Superstar. Griff’s buddy Cole Karter tried to attack Copeland after the match was over, but he ate a spear for his troubles.

It seems like The Cope Open will be a recurring thing in AEW going forward. Who would you like to see step in the ring with Copeland next?
