The Devil explains himself, AEW ratings go down

AEW Dynamite

The ratings and viewership data are in for this week’s (Jan. 3) episode of AEW Dynamite.

Per Wrestlenomics, Dynamite netted 801,000 viewers and a 0.26 rating with the 18-49 year old demographic. These numbers are down from last week’s 843,000 and 0.31, respectively, and the demo rating is only a tick above what NXT drew this week for New Year’s Evil.

The big drop in the demo rating is a surprise given the reveal of Adam Cole as The Devil at Worlds End. The Undisputed Kingdom might have been a bigger draw when they kept their masks on.

Then again, the opening viewership for Dynamite was strong, so maybe this result is more about the lack of top stars Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, and MJF, while featuring Daniel Garcia in the main event match. I bet we’ll see Mox and Jericho back on screen next week. Meanwhile, Sting is scheduled to wrestle in a tag team match with Darby Allin against The Don Callis Family next week, so perhaps that will help too.

Here’s a breakdown of AEW viewership and rating in the 18-49 demo over the last year:
