Mariah May’s in-ring debut was set-up for Deonna Purrazzo’s AEW one

Her hero, AEW Women’s World champion Toni Storm, couldn’t be bothered to stick around and watch her debut on the Jan. 3 Dynamite. The Timeless One wanted to get out of New Jersey and head into Manhattan pronto.

But Mariah May didn’t let that affect her in the ring against Queen Aminata. While Excalibur ran down a list of her accomplishments in Japanese promotion Stardom, May dominated the rising independent star on both sides of a commercial break. She withstood a brief comeback, then finished Aminata with Mayday.

In her post-match interview with Renee Paquette, May also trash talked New Jersey. Which was all set up for the arrival of a New Jersey native... former Impact Knockouts champion Deonna Purrazzo. She got a nice pop from her fellow Garden Staters, and sent a message to Storm that she’s coming.

Purrazzo wasn’t the hottest name on the free agent market, but she was on the list. Fightful Select reported this afternoon that The Virtuosa was close to signing with Tony Khan. But not long after her segment, TK tweeted out her “is All Elite” graphic... so the paperwork must have been finalized.

Excited for the newest addition to the AEW Women’s division?
