AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JAN. 10

Bird rise high from the cinders, leave it all far behind. All the ruins and the fire, and I’ll stay here and liveblog this pro wrestling show for these folks.

The show opens with the intro video.

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Claudio Castagnoli

Page cuts Castagnoli off with punches, dumping him out of the ring, chops on the floor! Laying elbows in, back inside, Claudio cuts him off and gets a nearfall off a stomp. Rear chinlock applied, big uppercut, double stomp in the corner! Hammering Hangman in the corner, Adam giving as good as he gets, Castagnoli cuts him off with a mat slam!

Giant swing follows, into the Sharpshooter, Page crawling for the ropes but Claudio shifts to an arm-trap crossface to cut him off! Adam counters into a pin and then hits a Death Valley Driver! Castagnoli back on his feet, uppercuts, Page cuts him off with a backslide for a nearfall and then lands a fallaway slam!

To the floor, Adam takes a sip of a fan’s beer and throws Claudio back inside! Castagnoli dumps him to the floor with a press slam over the ropes and we go to break!

Back from commercial, trading strikes, Page charges in, back body drop to the apron, lining him up but Claudio blasts him off the apron back onto the ramp! Walking Hangman up to the stage with forearms, Adam fires back with his own, rolling elbow sends Castagnoli stumbling back to the ring!

Hangman lines him up and charges in for a lariat that puts Claudio back in the ring! Buckshot... COUNTERED INTO SWISS DEATH BUT HANGMAN PAGE WON’T STAY DOWN! Trading rapidfire elbows, ducking lariats, Cactus Clothesline from Page takes both men to the floor! Orihara moonsault... CLAUDIO CATCHES HIM AND STAMPEDES HIM INTO THE CONCRETE RETAINING WALL!

Hangman with a DDT, Page climbs up on the wall... ORIHARA MOONSAULT CONNECTS! Back inside, Claudio wants a Tombstone, Hangman reverses... CASTAGNOLI KICKS OUT OF A TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER! Jockeying for position... GALLON THROW PUTS HANGMAN HARD INTO THE TURNBUCKLES! Uppercuts on uppercuts in the corner, short-arm lariat... NOPE!

Page gets Deadeye... NOT ENOUGH! Jockeying for position in the corner, gamengiri from Hangman, Claudio slips out, uppercuts in the corner. Straitjacket, Hangman reverses into a Frankensteiner! BUCKSHOT CONNECTS! A SECOND LARIAT! IT’S OVER!

“Hangman” Adam Page wins by pinfall with Buckshot.

We get a memorial video pacakge for the late, great Brodie Lee and we go to break.

Adam Copeland, Dustin Rhodes, Orange Cassidy, & Preston Vance vs. Lance Archer & Mogul Embassy (Bishop Kaun, Brian Cage, & Toa Liona)

Liona and Rhodes to start, Dustin with the drop-down slap, snap scoop powerslam, only a nearfall! Tag to Vance, collar and elbow, Toa backs him into the corner and tags Cage in and we go to break with the heels in control.

Back from commercial, Archer with a huge suplex on Cassidy, working him over. Lance blocks a goozle, Orange with the lazy leg kicks, Lance drops him but Cassidy has enough gas for a counter DDT! Tag to Vance, double shoulder block on the Gates of Agony, slam for Liona, spinebuster for Kaun!

Fired up, pointing to the heavens, discus lariat ducked, Ace Crusher connects but Toa breaks it up! The match breaks down into “everybody do something cool” territory, Copeland with the Impaler DDT but Bishop takes him out with a gutbuster! Orange Punch on Kaun and then the chokeslam!

Cage clotheslines Archer and Adam spears the Machine out of his boots! Vance back in...

Adam Copeland, Dustin Rhodes, Orange Cassidy, & Preston Vance win by pinfall with a discus lariat from Vance on Bishop Kaun.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, Bullet Club Gold are interviewed by Renee Paquette.

Jay White says anything the Undisputed Kingdom can do, they can do better, and the Acclaimed roll up and say it’s amazing that they have a common enemy and imagine all of them holding gold at the same time. The Acclaimed is the people’s choice and last week the people were cheering for Bang Bang Gang almost as much as they cheer for the Acclaimed.

They don’t have to be friends, but they can work together, one big Bang Bang Scissor Gang. Switchblade says they need time to think it over.

Samoa Joe makes his entrance and gets on the mic.

He introduces himself and says tonight we make some changes to the championship challenge protocol because he’s got a target on his back. No more whining out here on the mic or making ho-ass comments on social media, no, you bring your record and representation and submit it to the championship committee and hope to get a pass to get stomped out in front of everyone who’s ever cheered for you.

Enter Shane “Swerve” Strickland, with the Mogul Embassy in tow.

He says this is his first time at Daily’s Place, but it’s still Swerve’s house. He talks about how his thing with Hangman Page wasn’t personal, he was just after his spot, and he took it. So he’ll say the same thing to Samoa, it’s not personal, he just wants the title, and he’s gonna take it.

However, after he takes the title and Joe chooses to make it personal, he... says something that gets lost because Comcast is REAL choppy in this segment and I don’t know why.

Enter “Hangman” Adam Page.

He says 2023 held a lot for him, he beat Jon Moxley in a Texas Deathmatch, he reunited with the Elite in Anarchy in the Arena and Blood & Guts, something about Swerve that I miss because Comcast is crapping the bed, and so on.

Strickland takes his leave.

Page gets in Joe’s face and says something, again, that I miss because Comcast is shuddering and keyframing and dropping audio.

Samoa holds the title up—

Enter HOOK.

He slides right in the ring and goes forehead-to-forehead with Joe, pointing at the title and holding a finger up, saying “one week.”

We get a recap of Deonna Purrazzo’s debut last week.

Toni Storm is interviewed by Renee Paquette.

Mariah May steps up but, again, my signal is dropping, and Toni grabs her by the cheek and asks if she did an arm drag. Renee wants to talk about Deonna, Storm is confused but is pretty sure she’s Italian and demands a meeting with “Donna Palazzo.”

“Absolute” Ricky Starks vs. Sammy Guevara

Mat grappling to start, Starks with a wristlock, Guevara reverses to a side headlock, shot off, leapfrog, shoulder block, Ricky with elbows in the corner. Off the ropes, trip sends Starks to the floor, baseball slide cuts him off, Sammy up top, Orihara moonsault connects!

Jockeying for position on the apron, Starks with underhooks, Guevara blocks with a chop! Chop gets a throat thrust, butterfly DDT on the apron and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Guevara with an enzuigiri, basement superkick, only a nearfall! Up top, Starks meets him with right hands, Sammy knocks him down with a back elbow, moonsault... THE BOOTS ARE UP! Ricky with a lariat, Liger Bomb... STILL NO!

Into the post, GTH blocked, jackknife pin, cover for two! Superkick, Guevara off the ropes, duck a lariat, superkick...

Sammy Guevara wins by pinfall with an inside cradle.

Post-match, “Big” Bill Morrissey attacks and puts boots to Guevara but Chris Jericho makes the save and brawls out into the crowd with Big Bill as we go to break!

Anna Jay, Kris Statlander, Thunder Rosa, & Willow Nightingale vs. Julia Hart, Skye Blue, & the Outcasts (Ruby Soho & Saraya)

Statlander and Soho to start, quick tags from the babyfaces to keep Ruby off-balance. Long exchange between Soho and Rosa, Nightingale in and Harley Cameron runs interference to turn the tide as we go to break!

Back from commercial, Willow with a double lariat on Julia and Skye! Statlander and Saray tag in, Kris a house afire, all eight women in the ring at once as things break down and the babyfaces deliver a quadruple suplex! Into “everybody do something cool” territory, Jay tags in, Stat with a German suplex on Saray, she tags out to Hart!

Anna and Julia squaring up, trading forearms, Jay with a sleeper hold but Blue tags in on her! Scorpion kick staggers Hart, but Blue cuts Anna off, the Queenslayer is in...

Anna Jay, Kris Statlander, Thunder Rosa, & Willow Nightingale win by submission with the Queenslayer from Jay on Skye Blue.

We get a Wheeler YUTA promo on Eddie Kingston about how he’s been on a winning streak and now he’s challenging him to a title match on Rampage.

Bryan Keith vs. Roderick Strong

Mat grappling, Keith with a side headlock, switching it up, laying chops in. Action to the floor, trading heavy chops, back inside, Roddy draws him up, chops and forearms in the corner! Trading forearms in the middle of the ring, my signal is real choppy again and full-stop drops for about thirty seconds, so that’s cool.

Underhooks from Keith, Strong with a back body drop, Bryan hangs on, sunset flip for two! Strong with a rising knee, suplex lift...

Roderick Strong wins by pinfall with End of Heartache.

Undisputed Kingdom hold court in the ring and Adam Cole gets on the mic.

He says when he said this place was going to change, he meant it, and so many people are concerned about the fans’ respect, but they don’t care about any of that. Roderick Strong, a twenty-year veteran, one of the most physical, most incredible, and pound-for-pound, bell-to-bell, the greatest wrestler alive today, and as far as he’s concerned the International Championship has his name on it.

Taven and Bennett, not just the greatest ROH World Tag Team Champions of all time, they’ve never gotten the respect they deserved. And of course, the monster, the dominator, one of the most physical and vicious men in AEW history, Wardlow. Now that Wardlow is surrounded by people that actually respect him, he promises that when the time is right, they will win the AEW World Championship.

Say hello to your new home, or should he say, your new kingdom, and make sure you get comfortable, because they’re gonna be here for a very long time.

Renee Paquette interviews Deonna Purrazzo backstage.

She says she’s still on cloud nine and she set her sights on Toni Storm and if she wants to pretend she doesn’t know who she is, well she’ll be on Collision.

Red Velvet rolls up to issue a challenge of sorts and we go to break.

Back from commercial, “Nature Boy” Ric Flair makes his entrance.

Darby Allin & Sting vs. Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita & “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs) (Tornado Tag Team Match)

Allin and Takeshita pairing off near the ring while Sting and Hobbs fight out into the crowd, brawling against a stark white brick wall like they’re about to walk past a poster informing us which X-Men have been slain and apprehended. The Icon puts Will on a road case and rams him into some trash cans!

Takeshita drawls Allin up for chops in front of Ric Flair, Sting continuing to hound Powerhouse out in the crowd! We go to break in all the chaos!

Back from commercial, all four men are in the ring and the babyfaces are down and out! They chuck Darby into the corner like a sack of potatoes, Sting throws chops left and right, Stinger Splash on Hobbs but Konosuke takes him out with a jumping knee! Flair gets in the ring and totters around, getting a cheap shot in on Hobbs before leaving.

Stinger Splash on Will, spinebuster follows, fighting up to the stage, Darby trying to choke Takeshita out! Konosuke rams him into the barricade, lines him up, running knee but Allin sidesteps and the Alpha hits only steel! Darby up top, climbing the scaffolding... COFFIN DROP OFF FIFTEEN-FOOT SCAFFOLDING!

STING PUTS HOBBS THROUGH A TABLE WITH A SCORPION DEATH DROP OFF THE STAGE! He rolls over into the barest of covers...

Darby Allin & Sting win by pinfall with a Scorpion Death Drop through a table from Sting on “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs.

Post-match, Tony Schiavone interviews Sting, asking him about his opponent for his final match.

Enter the Young Bucks.

They stand on the stage and make an obvious challenge.

That’s the show, folks.
