AEW & WBD with a great use of corporate synergy

Toni Storm’s transformation from “ex-WWE mean girl who’s good at wrestling” to “mean girl who thinks she’s a former silent movie star” hasn’t just resulted in nearly universal acclaim and a record-tying third run with the AEW Women’s World title.

It’s also resulted in a great use of the promotion’s relationship with Warner Bros Discovery. For Timeless Toni Storm’s defense against Skye Blue on Dynamite tonight (Dec. 6), she’ll be introduced by Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz.

Storm & her fellow collaborators RJ City, Luther (excuse me, Lutha), and Mariah May lean heavily on classic movies as part of the act. Toni is basically playing Sunset Boulevard’s Norma Desmond, and you don’t need a film history degree to see an All About Eve homage coming with May’s introduction into the story. A TCM tie-in is a perfect touch.

It’ll be the first time Mankiewicz has been involved with Storm & her troupe on television, but he reacted on social media when City namedropped him while introducing one of Toni’s picture-in-picture pick-chas back in October...

RJ responded...

...and now we’ll get to see what they cooked up tonight. Pop some popcorn and join us in our live blog for what’s sure to be pro wrestling-meets-Hollywood collabo for the ages, darlings!
