Sammy Guevara returns to a reunion with Chris Jericho... and a possible program with Sting? (UPDATED)

Sammy Guevara’s been out of action since WrestleDream — first with a concussion he suffered at that Oct. 1 PPV, and then as he & wife Tay Melo welcomed their baby to the world.

He returned on the Dec. 27 Dynamite, crashing The Don Callis Family’s Boxing Week Celebration.

Guevara was teaming with Callis’s crew when he got injured, but even though Don got him a custom portrait with his new baby & his Family, this wasn’t a happy reunion.

Sammy didn’t like that Callis put his kid in the painting without his permission, and laid into Don’s failure to lead Powerhouse Hobbs, Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher to greater heights in his absence. Callis fired back by insulting Guevara’s intelligence and abililty to be a parent. That led to a shoving match, and a four-on-one beatdown... until Chris Jericho ran in to make the save with his trusty bat Floyd.

With the ring cleared out, Jericho extended his hand to his former protege. Sammy responded with a hug, and then AEW Tag champs Ricky Starks & Big Bill crashed that party! But just when that ass-kicking got started, the lights went out. When they came back up, Darby Allin was back, along with (IT’S) STING!

Jericho was scheduled to face Starks & Bill for the AEW Tag titles this Saturday at Worlds End when his Golden Jets partner Kenny Omega was hospitalilzed with diverticulitis. Will Sammy replace Kenny? Are Sting & Darby going after the Tag belts on the road to The Icon’s retirement match at Revolution in March?

UPDATE: This will now be an eight-man tag (Sting, Allin, Jericho & Guevara vs. Starks, Bill, Hobbs & Fletcher at Worlds End.

Stay tuned. And get complete results and coverage of everything on tonight’s New Year’s Smash edition of Dynamite here.
