The headline pretty much tells you what we know, which is based on this X post from AEW’s Kenny Omega:
I can’t really sugar coat this. I’m out indefinitely. I tried to keep pushing past the pain for as long as I could until it became too much. Luckily doctors caught me when they did. I’ll be here so in the mean time, please enjoy wrestling! pic.twitter.com/kn9ZKUgSls— Kenny Omega (@KennyOmegamanX) December 15, 2023

Omega is scheduled to team with his Golden Jets partner Chris Jericho against AEW Tag champs Ricky Starks & Big Bill at Worlds End on Dec. 30, but this obviously puts that in doubt.
There hadn’t been any reports recently about Kenny working through injuries, but for the past several years it’s always been assumed that the former New Japan star was wrestling hurt. He missed roughly nine months from late 2021 until August 2022 after surgeries to address issues he dealt with throughout his AEW World title run. We can only speculate whether the current pain-causing issue he’s dealing with is related to those injuries, or something that happened more recently. But it’s worth noting he’s worked predominantly in multi-man matches since his return last year.
We’ll let you know when we hear more. In the meantime, join us in wishing Omega a complete return to health as quickly as possible.
UPDATE: Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reports Omega has been diagnosed with diverticulitis, the treatment & recovery timeframe for which varies by type and severity. Those details remain unknown as of this writing.
