AEW Dynamite ratings bounce all the way back for Winter is Coming special

AEW Dynamite

The ratings and viewership data are in for this week’s (Dec. 13) episode of AEW Dynamite.

Per Wrestlenomics, Dynamite netted 845,000 viewers and a 0.30 rating with the 18-49 year old demographic. These numbers are up from last week’s 823,000 and 0.25, respectively.

When Dynamite’s demo rating saw a big drop last week for an episode headlined by an Adam Copeland title match, I said it wasn’t a lock that the number would bounce all the way back for Winter is Coming, because this year’s event lacked the usual world championship match. It turns out that Winter is Coming scored Dynamite’s best demo rating in nearly two months, so it more than made up for last week’s fall.

Earlier today, while discussing a report about WWE negotiating with Warner Bros. Discovery for its next Raw TV deal, I asked the following question: if WBD thinks it can make more money by entering a business relationship with WWE, then why not do it? Well, the answer may very well be this simple - AEW Dynamite brings in very good ratings at a fraction of what it would cost to secure Raw’s TV rights. Sometimes the more cost-effective option is the most attractive one.

Here’s a breakdown of AEW viewership and rating in the 18-49 demo over the last year:
