AEW Full Gear was built around an injury angle for World champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman. Now we’re hearing that he left the show legitimately hurt as well.
MJF said he was in a lot of pain during an emotional appearance to lead off the post-PPV media scrum. A report from WrestlingPurists says he was doing more than just selling the damage The Gunns did to his leg on the pre-show, and how he aggravated that while defending his belt against Jay White it the main event.
The champ talked at the scrum about the decision to do an elbow drop on White from the top rope to the floor even though the announce table collapsed while they were setting up the spot.
MJF is risking it all to retain his Title tonight!

Per WrestlingPurists, MJF dislocated his hip on the landing:
According to sources, MJF hurt his hip when performing an elbow drop to the outside and had to have his hip popped back in after the match.
Those sources also told the site Max “banged up his shoulder” taking this avalanche uranage from Switchblade:
How did MJF kick out of that?!?

Despite the injuries, MJF is not expected to miss television time. It does sound like he’ll be kept out of the ring and “featured in a non-wrestling capacity” until AEW’s next PPV, Dec. 30 at Worlds End.
