Report: Sami Callihan seen backstage at the AEW Collision taping

Impact’s Twitter

Free agent Sami Callihan was backstage at the AEW Collision taping in Memphis on Saturday (Oct.21), according to the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer.

Callihan recently parted ways with Impact Wrestling after his contract expired at the end of September. During his time at Impact, he held the World title briefly from October 2019 to January 2020. In 2021, he headlined the Slammiversary pay-per-view, challenging AEW star Kenny Omega for the Impact’s top crown.

Callihan has also had a past partnership with AEW’s Jon Moxley from 2009 to 2011. They rekindled that alliance for two matches in 2022 when Moxley appeared at The Wrestling Revolver, an independent promotion run by Callihan that operates mostly out of Iowa and Ohio.

A report by Fightful Select earlier this month said that Moxley was pushing hard for AEW to sign Callihan. Whether or not that will be the case remains to be seen, but speculation is already running rampant now that this news is out there.
