AEW RAMPAGE RESULTS FOR AUG. 19

  • Rampage kicks off with ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli and ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta making their entrance to the ring. Claudio gives a shout out to Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat in the front row. He offers an open challenge for next week. Dustin Rhodes comes out and accepts the challenge. Both men know how much it burns when people say you are never good enough to be world champion. Claudio accepts the challenge for next week’s Rampage.
  • Ruby Soho and Ortiz are interviewed backstage. They want a piece of Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo next week.
  • Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland defeat Private Party to retain the AEW tag team titles. Lee dominated Private Party with power moves when he was in the ring. Private Party took bump after bump from Lee but refused to stay down. Strickland then came in and put them away with the JML Driver for the pin. The two teams showed each other respect after the fight.
  • Powerhouse Hobbs finds QT Marshall and The Factory backstage and tosses over the table they are sitting at. Marshall swears that his guys will take out Ricky Starks, and Hobbs walks off.
  • Zack Clayton comes out and talks trash on West Virginia. HOOK is out next to defend the FTW title against him.
  • HOOK defeats Zack Clayton to retain the FTW championship. Clayton swings and misses and falls victim to the redrum for the immediate choke out finish.
  • “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard & “Cool Hand Ang” Angelo Parker are backstage saying it’s time for the FTW title to be held by a sports entertainer.
  • Daddy Ass is interviewed backstage. He says his Ass Boys have opened the door for him to spank their asses next week. He ends the interview by scissoring The Acclaimed.
  • HOOK’s title defense was so quick that Buddy Matthews (with Julia Hart) is out now for a standby match.
  • Buddy Matthews defeats Serpentico. Matthews beats him quickly while commentary hypes up next week’s Trios Tournament match between Dark Order and House of Black.
  • Miro comes out after the match holding Malakai Black’s mask. Miro charges towards Matthews and beats him up. He lays in repeated punches and stomps in the corner. Buddy slaps him, so Miro kicks his head off.
  • Britt Baker is interviewed backstage and says ThunderStorm is a shit show. She says Thunder Rosa knows she can’t beat Toni Storm, and that’s the only reason Rosa decided to team up with her. Baker will be watching their match from the sidelines at All Out.
  • Athena defeats Penelope Ford. Kip Sabian (with the box over his head) is in the audience cheering on his wife, which the commentators bring attention to. Nonetheless, Athena pins Ford as a tune-up for a future match with Jade Cargill. Afterwards, The Baddies attack Athena. Cargill comes down with a sledgehammer and destroys Athena’s wings; Athena is forced to watch from the ring. Athena finally breaks their grip, but Cargill nails her in the abdomen with the sledgehammer.
  • Billy Gunn takes on his son Colten on Dynamite next week.
  • Mark Henry interviews The Trustbusters and Orange Cassidy & Best Friends before their main event match. Henry and Cassidy argue over whose line it is to say it’s time for the main event.
  • Orange Cassidy & Best Friends defeat The Trustbusters (Ari Daivari, Parker Boudreaux, Slim J) to advance to the next round in the Trios Title Tournament. Boudreaux showed off his power, smashing all three babyfaces in quick succession. But the numbers game did him in, and they took him out of the ring with a triple drop kick. Slim J and Daivari couldn’t handle the Best Friends, but Boudreaux got back in the mix. Beretta speared Parker into a barricade, and Cassidy sent him over it with an Orange Punch. Sonny Kiss tripped up Cassidy on the top rope. Kiss went to find Boudreaux, but Danhausen showed up to put a curse on the heels. The babyfaces triple teamed Slim J in the ring, launching Orange Cassidy up in the air for a splash and victory.
  • That the end of the show, folks!
