AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR MAR. 23

Rage and confusion, war for supremacy, valuable insight producing effect. As he marches down the royal road, his entourage embraces, but me? I’m just here to liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with the intro video.

CM Punk vs. Dax Harwood

Collar and elbow, Harwood goes for an armbar, reversed to an arm drag, headscissors, stalemate! Trading arm drags, Punk gets a hammerlock, Dax backs him into the corner to break it and breaks dirty with a back elbow and a chop! Big slugging forearm, whip reversed, CM scoops him up and slams him!

Top wristlock, Dax breaks free, whip across, drop down, back elbow, snap suplex, cover for one! Backbreaker, back suplex, Harwood starting to work the back. Gunn Club making a nuisance of themselves at ringside and Punk is able to get some breathing room and lay some chops in!

Big back elbow, trading forearms, and CM gets the better of the exchange! Leg drop, Punk goes up top, Harwood follows, jockeying for position, CM knocks him down and calls for the Macho elbow but gets crotched right “on his Johnson” to quote my wife. Dax with the superplex,

The feed breaks briefly, diving headbutt... PUNK KICKS OUT! CM suplexes him over the ropes and sends both men crashing to the floor, down and out! Referee Bryce Remsburg issues his count as Cash Wheeler comes to ringside to support his boy, and both men break the count!

Punk up top, diving crossbody... STILL NO! ANACONDA VISE APPLIED ON THE KICKOUT! DAX IS STRUGGLING, HE PULLS PUNK’S HAIR TO BREAK THE HOLD! Going for the Sharpshooter, Punk kicks him hard into the turnbuckles, small package, reversed... SO CLOSE! Both men slow to rise out of that pin, CM charges in, rising knee, bulldog countered... SLINGSHOT POWERBOMB CAN’T KEEP CM PUNK DOWN!

Off the ropes, front kick sends Harwood sprawling, the knee connects without incident this time, fireman’s carry, Go to Sleep blocked, the Sharpshooter is on in the middle of the ring! Punk with some punches to the brow, back to the Anaconda Vise...

CM Punk wins by submission with the Anaconda Vise.

The Jericho Appreciation Society are backstage.

Chris Jericho talks about the picture of 12-year-old John Silver with him and says that being in the ring with him puts him on a different level, but not on his level, and it ain’t gonna be pretty. Daniel Garcia says the JAS beats up pro wrestlers, and they can’t hang with sports entertainers of his ilk.

Angelo Parker and Matt Menard dramatically pull curtains back to reveal a whole lot of nothing, and Eddie Kingston, Ortiz, and Santana are never coming back and they won’t dare.

Butcher and the Blade (Andy “Butcher” Williams & Pepper “Blade” Parks) & Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) vs. Darby Allin, Hardy Boyz (Jeff & Matt Hardy), & Sting (Tornado Tag Team Match)

Allin and Sting with dives out the gates as we get a wild brawl around ringside! Butcher and Blade taking Darby and Jeff up the stairs and brawling, Hardy smashing one of Private Party into the turnbuckles over and over but Andrade comes up from behind with a belt and starts whipping Darby over referee Bryce Remsburg’s objections! BUTCHER THROWS ALLIN DOWN THE CONCRETE STEPS AND WE GO TO BREAK!

Back from commercial, Kassidy begs off as Matt Hardy has him at his mercy on the stage, but Quen comes up with a low blow to cut Hardy off! PRIVATE PARTY WITH A DOUBLE SIDE EFFECT TO MATT OFF OF THE STAGE! Darby and Sting and Butcher and Blade fighting in the concourse, Jeff Hardy is there with a ladder, heels set up on some tables as Hardy climbs and balances on a ledge... SWANTON BOMB OFF THE LEDGE AND THROUGH THE TABLES!

Sting back to ringside, helping Matt Hardy fend off Private Party and shrugging off a chairshot from Isiah! Right hands for everybody, Stinger Splashes, Kassidy with a chest kick, setting him up top, Marq charges in... GIN & JUICE BLOCKED! Sting has an inverted facelock, Hardy has the front chancery... STEREO SCORPION DEATH DROP / TWIST OF FATE! IT’S OVER!

Darby Allin, Hardy Boyz, & Sting win by pinfall with a Scorpion Death Drop from Sting on Isiah Kassidy and a Twist of Fate from Matt Hardy on Marq Quen.

Backstage, FTR are interviewed and they call the Ass Boys out and they get it, they’ve done some nasty things in the past but they’re not spoiled brats and the Ass Boys think they can come take their spot? They’re the best tag team on the planet and they’ll see them next week on Dynamite.

And so we go to break.

“American Dragon” Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley vs. Varsity Blonds (Brian Pillman, Jr. & Griff Garrison)

Danielson lighting Pillman up with chest kicks in the corner, big knee lift, kick to the back, tag to Moxley. Jon with big right hands, scoop and a slam, laying kicks in, and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Pillman dives into a chest kick from Danielson, Moxley legal, piledriver, Garrison breaks it up! Off the ropes, back body drop sends Bryan to the floor, Jon with chops, Griff fires forearms back and Mox drops him with one hard one! Dropkick spinebuster combo gets the Blonds a deep two, tag to Garrison!

Dragon comes in, Busaiku Knee, Mox kicks Pillman out of midair, Paradigm Shift! Overhead elbows from Mox, the face stomps from Danielson, sleeper hold...

“American Dragon” Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley win by submission with a bodyscissors sleeper hold from Moxley on Griff Garrison.

Post-match, William Regal gets in the ring and Jon Moxley gets on the mic.

He says he’s been blessed to compete against the best in the world and to learn from them, but there’s only one man whose opinion he’s ever cared about, his lordship William Regal. And he earned his respect through pain and blood and torture and he wears that Blackpool badge of honor with pride, just like his friend, the perfect wrestler, the great American Dragon Bryan Danielson.

They two were forged in combat, and if you wanna stand across from them, you better step up or get stepped on, and for anybody who thinks they have what it takes to stand with them, to ride with the three most sadistic individuals in this business. They ain’t giving free passes out, and if you think you’ve got what it takes, you have to reach deep down in your soul and find that place of pain in your heart.

If you a badge of honor from the Blackpool Combat Club, you have to get it the hard way.

Commentary promises us Maxwell Jacob Friedman, after the break.

Back from commercial, Maxwell Jacob Friedman makes his entrance, Shawn Spears at his side.

He gets in the ring and on the mic with security between him and the entrance. He says Texas has as many brain cells as teeth so pipe down a little bit. It’s a shame Wardlow couldn’t get it done last week, because unlike him, he’s a man of his word and he meant it when he said Wardlow could keep the TNT title if he won it.

But he’ll get back to that, because right now he wants to talk to CM Punk. Everybody knows it, he had him beat at Revolution just like he had him beat twice in Chicago, so he decided to cheat to win, and he’ll make it perfectly clear— don’t know when and where, but there will be another match and he’ll give Punk the most embarrassing loss of his entire career.

But it won’t be over until he attends his funeral and pisses on his grave. Back to Wardlow, you only like him because you’re inbred, and he’s a greedy little pig. When they first met a few years ago, he didn’t have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of, and now he’s got a beautiful roof over his and his mother’s head, all thanks to Max. And he repays him by costing him the most important match of his life?

And then he has the audacity to step in his ring, on his microphone, and ask to be released from his contract? He didn’t sign some deal with some schmuck, he signed a deal with the devil and it is ironclad. He thinks he had it bad before? His life is about to be a living hell.

Jump? How high. The crowd chants at him and MJF threatens to crucify Wardlow and kick his mother out of the house, and he won’t say a thing because Max owns him.

This brings Wardlow storming down the aisle and throwing security around! They eventually hold him back and MJF says he’s gonna pay Wardlow to stay home until everyone forgets he ever existed, until he winds up in the same place he was when they met, an absolute nobody.

MJF squelches some rumors, the Pinnacle isn’t over, it’s better than ever, and starting next week they’re gonna move up around here, because when you’re in the Pinnacle, you’re always on top.

Best Friends are interviewed backstage.

Trent Beretta berates Wheeler YUTA for running off to try and join the William Regal Tough Boy Club and YUTA says he never liked him and he’s not trying to be the best friend he can be, he’s trying to be the best wrestler, and Trent never did understand that.

Adam Cole vs. Jay Lethal

Cole in control out of the feeling out with forearms, arm wringer, whip across, arm drag into a cartwheel dropkick for Lethal... NOPE! Adam to the floor, Jay with a series of topes, reDRagon come to the stage and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Lethal with a spinning toehold, Cole kicks him to the apron, he returns, spinning toehold countered with a small package for two! Trading pins, Adam working desperate to block the figure four but eventually Jay locks it on in the middle of the ring!

Cole drops the pad, off the ropes... ACE CRUSHER COUNTERS! LETHAL INJECTION COUNTERED WITH A SUPERKICK! Adam goes up top... LETHAL KICKS OUT OF PANAMA SUNRISE! O’Connor roll, reDRagon run interference, Cole counters a Lethal Injection with a low blow, off the ropes...

Adam Cole wins by pinfall with the Boom.

Post-match, Cole gets on the mic and makes his case for another title match against “Hangman” Adam Page.

Page rushes down and whips them with a belt until the numbers overwhelm him, and Jurassic Express and Christian Cage make the save!

We get a video package for Dustin Rhodes vs. Lance Archer on Rampage and go to break.

Back from commercial, Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti are in the ring with Tony Schiavone.

He points out we last saw them both in tough spots and asks how they’re doing. Sammy says he’s here to make you stand in your chair and shout holy shit, and if he pays for it with his body, it’s worth it because of us, and you have to give something to get something, and our reaction is all he ever wanted in this business... until now.

Tay takes over and says now they want payback, and she calls Paige VanZant out and says she’s gonna kick her ass. Guevara challenges any two of “those idiots.”

Dan Lambert comes down with Men of the Year.

He hypes up “All Ego” Ethan Page and himself and PVZ and Scorpio Sky and runs Tiny Tim and his girlfriend Lucha-whore-us and says unless they have something to offer they’re not getting a match. Guevara calls Dan out as he leaves and says he knows they’ve been living rent-free in his head, but if he only knew what they did with that belt, he’d know they live in his mouth, too.

We get a video package of Shane Strickland calling Ricky Starks out for an FTW Championship match on Rampage, and Ricky accepting his challenge.

Leyla Hirsch vs. Red Velvet

Hirsch blindsides Velvet during her entrance and beats her down only to get whipped into the barricade herself! Red lays a wicked chop in and throws her across the aisle into the other barricade! Velvet with a tijeras, throwing her inside and we get the bell!

Body blows in the corner, choking her with a boot, standing moonsault, Leyla flows out of it into a Karelin lift! Cover for one and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Velvet with a jawbreaker, float over a back suplex, off the ropes, axehandles, arm drag, double knees, trading punches, rolling solebutt to the arm, Red goes to springboard but Hirsch catches her with a German suplex... NOPE! Velvet hits the Mix but Leyla rolls to the ropes and to the safety of the floor!

Hirsch gets her trusty turnbuckle out from under the ring, referee Bryce Remsburg sees her with it but she had a spare in her trunts and blasts Velvet...

Leyla Hirsch wins by pinfall with a lateral press.

Post-match, Hirsch grabs a cross armbar to continue her assault, and Kris Statlander runs down and makes the save! Shoulder blocks in the corner, body blows, forearms, bieling her across the ring and sending Leyla running!

Jade Cargill is interviewed backstage and she details what she needs for her tremendous thirtieth victory celebration.

Commentary hypes up Rampage and next week’s Dynamite.

Tony Schiavone introduces Thunder Rosa for an interview on the stage, but she’s interrupted by Vickie Guerrero before she can say a word.

Guerrero says Rosa may think of herself as a leader and she’ll give her a little bit of credit, because after all she shows up for training on Wednesday mornings, but she’s no Texan, and she can take her fake green card back to Mexico. Thunder says she got her citizenship in the state of Texas, and—

Nyla Rose attacks Rosa from behind and smashes her into the mat! Vickie says Rose is a true champion and she’s hungrier and thirstier for that title.

And so we go to break.

Beaver Boys (Alex Reynolds & John Silver) vs. Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho & “Red Death” Daniel Garcia)

Silver and Jericho to start, the Meat Man running hot with strikes and slams, one-foot pin! Arm drag, action to the floor, Silver and Reynolds with a suicide dive / brainbuster combo! Back in, flapjack/uppercut takes Garcia out and the Beaver Boys stand tall! Referee Aubrey Edwards ejects the Dark Order from ringside and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Jericho choking Reynolds in the ropes, Lionsault follows... NOBODY HOME! Alex crawling for the tag and he gets it! Silver in with lariats, whip across, flapjack, Garcia runs in and the Meat Man throws him out of the ring! John after Y2J, whip, back body drop to the apron, triangle dropkick countered with an enzuigiri and Silver goes to the floor, running wild and taking Jake Hager out with a Frankensteiner!

Back in with a diving crossbody... SO CLOSE! Front kicks, Y2J counters with a Codebreaker... NOT ENOUGH! Garcia tags in, double-teams nearly put him down for three! Silver with elbows to the rest of the JAS, he gets taken out, Alex and Daniel back and forth and Jericho gets a cheap shot with Floyd!

Red Death with the Sharpshooter, bending back...

Jericho Appreciation Society win by submission with a Sharpshooter from Daniel Garcia on Alex Reynolds.

That’s the show, folks.
