AEW took the “interim” tag off their Women’s title after Jamie Hayter won it from Toni Storm at Full Gear. The move helped address what remained a lingering issue for much of their roster and fan base — Thunder Rosa remaining champion despite being out injured since August.
That was just one in a long list of “drama”s in the AEW locker room this year, but at least it’s one that should lead to some good feuds if/when Rosa returns.
So when will that be? Rosa previously said on Busted Open she was shooting for January, while another report mentioned February. But in a new update on her vlog she admits she has yet to get back into the ring. She did says she’s working toward that goal, and shared the progress she is making:
“The recovery is going really well. This week I was just able to do squats with a two-pound dumbbell. I haven’t done any lifting for the last four or five months so this is huge.
“Actually, two weeks ago I was able to do a 5k, which I walked half of it. I just want to say that because I’m not allowed to run, I can jog but that’s pretty much it. So those are big milestones for me.”
“I have not been able to be in the ring yet so we’re working on that.”
We continue to wish Thunder Rosa well in her recovery. Let us know if you’re still interested in seeing her renew her rivalries with Hayter, Storm & Dr. Britt Baker — or start one with wrestlers like Saraya — when she does get back in the ring.
