Here’s a place to check results and comment along with a new episode of AEW Dynamite, airing tonight at 8 pm ET on TBS.
Check out our Wednesday morning preview post to get caught up on what led up to, and what we’re looking forward to on, tonight’s show.
This week’s episode comes our way from Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. The Cavalier State’s own Hangman Page probably won’t be around after he suffered a concussion in last week’s main event, but the man he was facing — Jon Moxley — will be on hand to defend his AEW World title against Penta El Zero M, and Mox’s Full Gear challenger MJF will have a few things to say. Bryan Danielson goes one-on-one with Sammy Guevara, while the JAS/BCC war also is fought by Chris Jericho & Daniel Garcia as they take on Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta! Plus, FTR & Swerve in our Glory go at it to see which team are the #1 contenders for The Acclaimed’s Tag titles, Riho takes on Jamie Hayter, and more!
Come right back here at 8 pm ET when the Dynamite live blog kicks off once the show starts on TBS. It will be below this line here.
Enjoy the show!
AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR OCT. 26
They laughed at their gods and fought them in vain, so he turned his back on them and left them in pain. Now here come the saints, with their banners held high. Each one of them martyrs, quite willing to die. Wake the dead, the saints are in hell, but me? I’m just here to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.
The show opens with the intro video.
Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler YUTA) vs. Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho & “Red Death” Daniel Garcia)
Castagnoli and Garcia to start, Claudio gets ahead of him and tags YUTA in to press the attack. Fighting in the corner, Daniel gets a headbutt in to crack an opening, chops and forearms in the corner, whip across, scoop and a slam! Wheeler with a senton for two, stereo BCC overhead elbows, Jake Hager runs in and causes enough distraction for 2.0 to make the save!
Claudio and Wheeler go to the floor to keep the attack coming, brawling their dancing partners into the post, back inside and Castagnoli is working Garcia over. Red Death with some forearms, block the Giant Swing, tag to Jericho! Going chop for forearm, Claudio laying uppercuts in, off the ropes, Hager tries to trip him up and Y2J clocks him with the triangle dropkick to send us to break!
Back from commercial, a suplex leaves Claudio and Daniel both down and out and Jericho tags in! Clear the apron, Codebreaker blocked, roll through, looking for the Walls of Jericho but he can’t get it! Off the ropes... SWISS DEATH! Tag to YUTA, diving splash... NOPE!
Taking Garcia down as he charges in, mounted punches, clothesline to the floor! Back to Chris, Olympic Slam connects... STILL NO! Castagnoli in, Y2J gets a nearfall, Wheeler counters Red Death with a tope con giro! Jericho has Floyd but Claudio scoops him up and powerbombs him!
Giant swing setup, Garcia runs in, Castagnoli puts him in a fireman’s carry and swings both guys at the same time! Nailing Hager with a big boot and a cannonball senton! Lariats and stomps for the other ringside JAS boys! Up top, diving uppercut...
Blackpool Combat Club win by pinfall with a Gotch Neutralizer from Claudio Castagnoli on Chris Jericho.
Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Bryan Danielson.
He says if he’s gonna be honest, he’s a little frustrated because he lost to Chris Jericho, because Daniel Garcia turned his back on him, that Wheeler YUTA talked back to him last week. He knows lots of people hate Sammy Guevara, but he has no problems with him besides his smug face and his stupid blog, and he’s gonna take all his frustrations out on him.
YUTA rolls up and says he’s glad Bryan’s finally angry, because he and Claudio beat Jericho and Garcia. Castagnoli rolls up and screams at both of them to keep the peace. This is a great day, he beat the ROH World Champion, Danielson’s gonna kick ass, and it’s Wheeler’s birthday.
He knows Danielson’s gonna beat Guevara, and then they’re gonna sit down and talk this out like adults.
We get a video package of Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks getting dissolved out of AEW history like Thanos just snapped his fingers and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Tony Schiavone interviews the Jericho Appreciation Society.
Chris Jericho is upset that Claudio won with a baseball bat in the ring, regardless of whether or not he brought it to the ring himself, but now they’re fired off, but all bets are off, and Y2J open challenges any former ROH champion to fight him next week
FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) vs. Swerve in Our Glory (“Limitless” Keith Lee & Shane “Swerve” Strickland) (AEW World Tag Team Championship #1 Contender’s Match)
The Acclaimed come out to watch the match on the stage.
Strickland and Wheeler to start, little bit of mat grappling gives way to lucha libre, Keith Lee comes in and pounces Harwood bodily out of the ring to send us to break!
Back from commercial, back and forth, victory roll nearfall for Swerve into a small package for Harwood! Dive fakeout, standing crossbody, roll through, cover for two! Cash tags in, Dragon suplex... NOPE! Lee tags in, fireman’s carry, Cash slips out but Strickland nails him with a kick!
Running boot to Dax, tossing Wheeler into a powerbomb...NOPE! Swerve Stomp countered into a slingshot powerbomb countered into a roll-through countered right back into the slingshot powerbomb! POUNCE! DROPKICK! ALL HELL’S BREAKING LOOSE AND KEITH LEE GETS A NEARFALL OFF A HEADBUTT!
Keith up top, FTR working hard to keep him off-balance, Harwood up top with him, blind tag from Wheeler... POWER-PLEX ON KEITH LEE BUT HE KICKS OUT! Back and forth, they get Lee up for the Big Rig but Shane pulls Dax off of the pin! Harwood follows it up with a schoolboy for two, Swerve with a low blow, fireman’s carry, the Gunns have Cash held up in the barricade...
Swerve in Our Glory win by pinfall with Ground Zero from Keith Lee on Dax Harwood to become #1 contenders to the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
Post-match, the Ass Boys and the new number one contenders attack FTR but the Acclaimed rush down from the stage to make the save!
Renee Paquette interviews Saraya backstage.
They’re all smiles, Renee calling her the Joan Jett to her Blondie, when Dr. Britt Baker, DMD rolls up to start shit and yell at Saraya. Renee tells her this isn’t how you do this and they’re going to do it right, later.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, Renee Paquette interviews Maxwell Jacob Friedman on the stage.
He asks if we’ve got devil worshippers in the house and hits on Renee, which leads her to make the most sour face. She asks about his match at Full Gear, and he does a bad impression of Jon Moxley, talking about mashing his bones and drinking his piss.
He calls Jon mid, with all due respect, and Renee points out you can’t just use “all due respect” as a “get out of disrespect free” card, which gets him to tell her to shut her mouth. He says last week he overstated it when he said he was gonna win clean— he just meant, y’know... relatively clean. Clean for him!
He calls William Regal a disgusting elderly rat but says, to his point, that he won’t use the Dynamite Diamond Ring against Moxley, because he doesn’t need it. He’s taken every grudge he has and mashed them down into a chip that he put directly on his shoulder, and he’s not fighting Regal, Moxley, or Penta at Full Gear, he’s fighting every sorry scumbag that ever told him he’s not good enough.
And he’s gonna take that chip off his shoulder and shove it down each of their throats when he’s the new AEW World Champion.
Stokely Hathaway comes down and talks a bunch about taking care of Jon Moxley before Full Gear.
Friedman cuts him off and says he’ll cut Stokely some slack, but if Moxley gets past Penta tonight, he needs him at 110% so he needs Hathaway to not so much as look at him, or he’s fired.
We get a WarJoe video package.
“American Dragon” Bryan Danielson vs. Sammy Guevara
Guevara right in hard early, throwing strikes corner to corner, springboard Ace Crusher... SO CLOSE! Danielson on the comeback, Romero Special, falling back into full extension! More striking in the corner after the hold, Bryan walking into forearms, throwing counter headbutts and slapping the taste out of Sammy’s mouth!
Mounted punches, Guevara bails to the floor, baseball slide takes him out but Sammy counters the diving knee with a knee of his own and takes Danielson out with a dive to send us to break!
Back from commercial, Sammy tells Bryan he hats him and lays kicks in! Danielson free, off the ropes, Axe Bomber and he’s fired up! Uppercuts, whip across, Guevara with a front kick, back body drop sends him to the floor, off the ropes and Dragon takes him out with a suicide dive!
Back inside, up top, missile dropkick! Kip-up, chest kicks follow, standing Spanish Fly gets Sammy a nearfall! Up top, superplex attempt, Guevara lands on his feet, diving moonsault misses, standing misses, shooting star press caught into an omoplata! The LeBell Lock is on in the middle of the ring!
Sammy gets the ropes to force the break, up top, avalanche Spanish Fly... NOT ENOUGH! Back at it, GTH reversed, go under, leapfrog into a Poison Frankensteiner and the American Dragon is fired up! Lining him up... BUSAIKU KNEE RIGHT ON THE BUTTON! Wrists clutched, Danielson stomps his face in!
Triangle choke applied, raining elbows down, referee Bryce Remsburg makes the call!
“American Dragon” Bryan Danielson wins by referee stoppage.
Rey Fenix and Alex Abrahantes are interviewed backstage about Penta el Zero M’s world title match tonight.
They think Penta’s gonna win and Alex suggests Rey go after the All-Atlantic Championship.
Christian Cage and Luchasaurus roll up and Cage makes a case for Luchasaurus getting a match for the All-Atlantic Championship.
Orange Cassidy rolls up and says next week they’ll do it and we go to break.
Jamie Hayter vs. Riho
Collar and elbow, Hayter rams her into the corner and breaks clean! Off the ropes, Riho with a tijeras, but she gets overwhelmed by Jamie’s superior strength as we go to break.
Back from commercial, whip across, a handspring blocks a lariat, Riho wants a wheelbarrow victory roll and gets it after a short struggle, following it up with a stomp! Riho gets distracted by Rebel briefly but still puts Hayter in the ropes for the Tiger feint!
Hayter blocks the kick, suplex lift, float over, back elbows, Riho with a northern lights suplex into the bridge... NOPE! Jamie gets a sheerdrop brainbuster... BUT RIHO WON’T STAY DOWN! Riho with a tijeras for separation, lining her up but Dr. Britt Baker, DMD runs interference!
Jamie blocks the shotgun knees, blocks a sunset flip, but Riho floats over... YOSHI TONIC FOR TWO! Hayter gets the backbreaker after a little exchange, but Riho counters a ripcord lariat with a Dragon suplex! Sidestep the charge, Riho with a nearfall off a rolling side press!
Third try on the ripcord...
Jamie Hayter wins by pinfall with the ripcord lariat.
Post-match, Toni Storm comes to the stage and holds up the title belt.
Renee Paquette interviews Eddie Kingston backstage.
He says he’s great, he’s wonderful, that little thing where they talk, it’s great, he’s having a blast, this is a real smile! He wants to stop worrying about him and talk about his pal Jon Moxley, and he says he has to be honest, it’s gonna be hard for Jonny, Penta’s his boy, but he thinks he’s gonna take it and everyone else should leave him alone.
Commentary hypes up the next week of shows and Darby Allin gets a video explaining that Sting hasn’t been around lately. He says he went to Sting and told him how unhappy he’s been, and the Icon told him he can’t give up, and Darby asked for some time alone to get back on his feet.
Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt cut a promo telling Darby to be careful what he wishes for, because they just might give it to him, and we go to break.
Jon Moxley (c) vs. Penta el Zero M (AEW World Championship)
Forehead-to-forehead, Moxley shoving him, Penta backing him into the corner and they trade chops with abandon! Shifting to forearms, just pasting each other, to the floor and Penta dives on him to send us to break!
Back from commercial, Moxley with a boot up and a belly-to-belly suplex into the turnbuckles! Penta with a Sling Blade for a nearfall, looking for the package piledriver but Mox cuts him off with an Ace Crusher! Piledriver for two, Jon shifts right into the crossface!
Shifting gears again, overhead elbows and into a bulldog headlock! Zero breaks free, elbows, Ode to Jim Breaks but Moxley rolls out! Double leg into wrist clutch stomps, falling back into the cross armbar, reversed! Back to the Ode, he falls back and breaks Jon’s arm... BUT CAN’T KEEP HIM DOWN!
Mox on the steps, Penta wants the flip piledriver but Jon blocks and hits a piledriver on the steel steps! Big lariat... NOPE! Double stomp in the corner, Fear Factor... JON MOXLEY WON’T STAY DOWN! Paradigm Shift, roll through...
Jon Moxley wins by pinfall with Death Rider to retain the AEW World Championship.
Post-match, the Firm hit the ring and beat Moxley down!
Stokely Hathaway comes to the ring to conduct the show, he gets up in the turnbuckles as security comes down and his men beat the guards down, too! Alex Marvez is outside the Blackpool Combat Club’s locker room, where they’re chained inside, and a crew member runs to get the bolt cutters!
MJF comes to ringside and looks conflicted, taking his jacket off but he can’t bring himself to the ring and stop the Firm! EXCEPT HE COMES RUNNING BACK FULL STEAM! HE FIRES STOKE! ETHAN PAGE LAYS HIM OUT WITH A BIG BOOT AND THE FIRM BEATS FRIEDMAN DOWN TOO! ALL EGO HITS THE EGO’S EDGE ON MJF!
They take MJF for the ramp and W. Morrissey drags him over to the timekeeper’s table and they powerbomb him through it!
That’s the show, folks.
