AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JAN. 12

Sit there thinkin’ in your room, you feel the pressure, you’re goin’ crazy too. The walls around you closin’ in, you need a change, but me? I’m just here to liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with the intro video.

Adam Cole and reDRagon make their entrance.

Cole gets on the mic and asks who’s ready for story time. He says 2021 was a great year for the three of them, and 2022 will be even better, and he reminds everyone that he’s undefeated in singles competition, and on top of that the boys are back together.

Boys and girls, it’s a new era here in AEW, and—

Enter the Young Bucks to interrupt.

Matt Jackson says he just kicked COVID’s ass in two days and figured they’d come to the ring and join them. Kyle O’Reilly says nobody invited them and they didn’t need help winning. Matt puts reDRagon over as one of the best teams in wrestling and says they’re right, they didn’t need the help.

But the Bucks do have to make one thing clear— this is their company, they’re the longest-reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions, and their new year’s resolution is to get their belts back. Kyle says it’s funny because they have the same resolution and Bobby Fish says not a single team on this planet can stand between them and the tag titles.

Cole tries to spin it all as friendly competition and says that’s what makes them the greatest faction in AEW history. Compare them to the Best Friends, who are an absolute joke.

Enter Best Friends.

The two factions square up and Cole yells about cutting their music. He asks what Orange Cassidy could possibly say that’s of any importance, and Cassidy jumps him with a double leg and we got a wild brawl! Orange lights Adam up with forearms as everyone els goes ot the floor, back body drop puts Brandon Cutler into everybody!

Dr. Britt Baker, DMD attacks Kris Statlander and hits the stomp before holding Orange in place for her boyfriend! Cole with a superkick and then the Boom! The Elite stand tall and Adam brings the Bucks in for a kiss but Britt swoops in and steals it!

We get a video package for CM Punk vs. Wardlow to send us to break.

CM Punk vs. Wardlow

Circling, Punk bails to the floor and Wardlow gets between him and Maxwell Jacob Friedman, so CM gets back in the ring. Collar and elbow, Mr. Mayhem shoves him back, Punk with a side headlock, Wardlow breaks it and takes it to him in the corner with hard strikes!

CM manages to get away to the floor and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Punk is hurting but he manages to get a boot up! Wardlow plucks him off the turnbuckles and casts him aside, drawing him up, CM slips out of the powerbomb attempt and lands the flash roundhouse kick! Kick combo rocks Wardlow, lariats punish him but he’s still standing!

Punk ducks a lariat and throws a series of rights and lefts before coming off the top with a diving clothesline! Wardlow’s back is hurting and he catches the running knee and hits a powerbomb! Another powerbomb, Mr. Mayhem stalking around the ring before hitting a third, and rolling Punk through for number four!

Up for a fifth and CM Punk cannot protect himself! One-footed pin... BUT MJF GETS UP ON THE APRON AND TELLS HIM TO BACK OFF, HE WANTS MORE POWERBOMBS! Wardlow hits another, Max still wants more and he drags Punk up and hits a seventh powerbomb! Friedman asks the crowd what happened to their hero CM Punk and calls for another one!

Punk rolls to the apron and gives a weak thumbs up when referee Aubrey Edwards asks if he can continue. MJF cuts Wardlow off and clears the timekeeper’s table, instructing him to powerbomb Punk into the table! HE POWERBOMBS PUNK THROUGH THE TABLE! HE’S OUT AND AUBREY STARTS HER COUNT!

CM stirs, crawling desperately, MJF jawing at him... HE BEATS THE COUNT AT NINE! Max orders him to powerbomb CM Punk a ninth time and Punk manages to catch him...

CM Punk wins by pinfall with an inside cradle.

Post-match, Friedman gets into it with Wardlow and Shawn Spears gets between them to play peacemaker! Mr. Mayhem storms off and we go to break.

Dante Martin vs. “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs

Brawling in the aisle, referee Rick Knox calls for the bell as soon as they hit the ring! Martin clambers through Hobbs to send him to the floor, back in, dropkick cuts him off, slingshot back to the apron, dive caught and Will spinebusters him on the floor! Hobbs throws him back in the ring and nails him with boots to the head!

Front chancery, release Falcon Arrow, up for another one, Dante fights back with body blows, off the ropes, Hobbs wipes him out with a lariat! Martin with upkicks, an enzuigiri, more body blows, Will cuts him off with a front chancery before clubbing him down!

Up in a torture rack, Dante slips out and puts him into the ropes, Hobbs hits a crossbody for two! Corner uppercut, hammer whip and Martin just flies out of the ring where Ricky Starks puts boots to him and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Hobbs is in control with heavy strikes but Martin powers up with a desperate elbow to the jaw, knocking Will into the ropes! Powerhouse shoves him back, kick from Dante, springboard caught into the torture rack but Martin escapes! Dropkick into the ropes, back body drop to the apron, enzuigiri connects and Dante Martin is fired up!

Off the top, big missile dropkick for two! To the floor, Martin hits a tornillo, Jay Lethal runs in to cut Ricky Starks off and Dante takes advantage...

Dante Martin wins by pinfall.

The Inner Circle are interviewed backstage about being PWI’s 2021 Faction of the Year.

Chris Jericho says since day one in AEW their mission statement has never wavered, they’re here to dominate this company and be the biggest, baddest band of blood brothers this industry has ever seen, and if 2.0 want to get involved with their boy Sammy Guevara tonight, they’ll take care of it.

Eddie Kingston rolls up to say he doesn’t care about Sammy, he wants Daniel Garcia because he jacked his knee up, and further Jericho is why Ortiz and Santana haven’t been tag team champions yet. Chris tells him to get the hell out of their business and Santana tells them to get their shit together and leaves.

Eddie asks Ortiz for backup, but he leaves, and Jake Hager walks out, too. Jericho says Eddie’s welcome to be at ringside tonight, but if he gets involved, he might just kick his ass, too.

MJF walks out for an impromptu promo.

He calls CM Punk out and says he knows he’s in a world of pain and mock congratulates him on his win tonight. Everyone knows Punk got powerbombed to oblivion and it was a fluke victory, but he’s not winning next week, and he’s gonna personally make sure CM takes his first L in AEW.

No more running, no more hiding, you want the match, you got it, CM Punk vs. Shawn Spears!

What an asshole.

Adam Cole and the Bucks and reDRagon cut a promo on Best Friends backstage, and Dr. Britt Baker, DMD joins in to challenge Orange Cassidy and Kris Statlander to a mixed tag team match next week.

“Hangman” Adam Page makes his entrance and gets on the mic.

He says he’s spent ninety minutes the past two months, in the ring against the best in the world, and he’s poured sweat and enough blood to float a battleship to keep the greatest prize in wrestling, the AEW World Championship, and it’s still his, goddamnit.

But ninety minutes isn’t enough, it’s a new year, records have reset, and the Hangman needs a new challenger.

Enter Dan Lambert, to which Page asks us to shoot him.

Dan talks about the great wrestling cowboys of his youth, Bill Watts, Stan Hansen, the Funks... and now this east coast “Cowboy” is what we’ve got? Hangman says if Page or Scorp want a match all they have to do is ask. Lambert says he knows what Adam can do and the matches against Danielson were some of the best he’s ever seen.

And the thing he likes most is that he didn’t take the Cody Rhodes path, he earned everything he has in the business, with the exception of his gimmick. He comes across as stealing a legacy, completely full of cowboy shit. Adam says turning down a six-figure contract isn’t cowboy shit, and tells Dan to come in the ring and let him shove his size twelve boots somewhere.

Lambert goes to make his exit and Lance Archer is back! Dan runs away into the ring, Lance grabs him by the hoodie... AND ATTACKS ADAM PAGE! Archer gets him up top... BLACKOUT INTO A CHAIR!

Arn Anderson, Lee Johnson, and Brock Anderson are interviewed backstage.

Arn says he’s proud of both dudes and says they’re gonna experience something they never have before, and that’s that this is Horsemen Country.

Tully Blanchard and FTR roll up and Tully tells Arn if he really wants to relive those days he needs to join up with them, and they end up making a tag match for next week as we go to break.

Back from commercial we get a hype reel for our new AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill, including a promo where she talks up her title.

Hikaru Shida vs. Serena Deeb

Serena Deeb attacks Hikaru Shida before the bell and puts her knee into the steel steps! Referee Paul Turner checks on her and she says she’s good to go!

We get a bell and Serena goes to town on her with kicks in the corner! Stomps to the knee, to the hamstring, just destrying poor Hikaru’s leg! Tearing at her knee pad, trapping the arm for the Serenity Lock, smashing the knee into the mat, and the Serenity Lock is in! Turner calls the match!

Serena Deeb wins by referee stoppage with the Serenity Lock.

Post-match, Deeb gets a kendo stick and returns to the ring to beat her down with it! Hammering the knee, referees Aubrey Edwards and Mike Posey come to the ring to pull her off of Hikaru! Some babyfaces come out of the back to help Shida to the back.

Christian Cage and Jurassic Express are interviewed backstage.

Jungle Boy talks about wanting a challenge and the Beaver Boys roll up and make their case for getting a title match.

Matt Hardy gets on the mic and cuts a promo on Penta el Zero M, saying tonight in his back yard and in front of his beautiful family in attendance, he’s going to delete Penta and send him to the hospital to be with his brother.

Matt Hardy vs. Penta el Zero M

Penta gets in his face with the Cero Miedo, Hardy fires back with the Delete!, they go back and forth for a minute or two, eventually Matt grabs the hand and Pentagon chops him! Off the ropes, Matt runs right into a crescent kick, charging chop in the corner and Penta hauls off with a few more to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Penta with a front kick, off the ropes, Sling Blade connects, another one, ribbreaker for two! Fear Factor reversed to a DDT, Hardy gets a two count! Jockeying for position in the turnbuckles, Penta hits a tree of woe double stomp for two! Fighting on the apron, trading overhand chops with abandon!

Side Effect on the apron, back in for the cover... NOPE! Up for a moonsault, nobody home, Penta takes advantage, kick to the gut...

Penta el Zero M wins by pinfall with Fear Factor.

Post-match, Penta calls Malakai Black out and says he’s gonna show Black some respect, because he’s Penta—

The lights go down.

They come back up and Malakai is in the ring! He drops Alex Abrahantes with a big boot, punches for Penta, superkick gets a roundhouse kick and Black draws him up and tears at his mask!

Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman, Jr. make the save! Julia Hart cheerleads from the apron, saying it’s not enough! Black is laughing in the middle of the ring as he counts the number of men in the ring!

The lights go out again!

They come back up... BRODY KING IS HERE! HE CLEANS HOUSE AND TAKES PILLMAN OUT WITH A CANNONBALL SENTON IN THE CORNER! Malakai tosses Griff at him with a suplex and King catches him into a powerslam! The Kings of the Black Throne are here!

Kris Statlander is interviewed backstage about her mixed tag next week.

Leyla Hirsch asks her if she thinks that’s selfish because they have a tag on the books too, and Red Velvet tells them she needs both of them to work together.

Bear Country (Bear Boulder & Bear Bronson) vs. the Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster)

Bears stack ‘em up and get to work, isolating Bowens and working him over! Caster tags in, big crossbody on a Bear, and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Bronson reverses a suplex into a Banzai Drop, tag to Boulder, off the ropes, lariats take both of them out! Goozles, the Acclaimed break out, off the ropes but Bear catches them both with reverse STOs! Tag to Bronson, Boulder gets him up in an electric chair, Bear Bomb... Bowens rolls Caster out of the way!

Anthony takes Boulder out with a rolling elbow, Bronson knocks him to the floor, Caster with a schoolboy for two! Sidestep the charge, Bowens runs interference, Max off the top...

The Acclaimed win by pinfall with the Mic Drop from Max Caster on Bear Bronson.

As the Acclaimed go to leave, Sting’s music hits and the Icon makes his entrance!

Darby Allin appears from the ring and takes Max Caster out with a dive as Sting whacks Anthony Bowens with the bat! Taking the fight into the ring, Darby with a back elbow in the corner and Sting hits the Scorpion Death Drop!

We get a video package message from PAC.

He talks about how he was told he may never see again, but it’s just another setback, and now he sees everything. He appreciates the blessing, and now his perspective is different and his vision has never been so clear.

Commentary hypes up the card for Rampage this week, and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Matt Hardy is interviewed.

He says maybe he’s focused too much on HFO and not enough on himself, because something has to change.

Andrade el Idolo rolls up to tell him to take it easy and yeah, he needs to focus. They’re both businessmen and he wants to work together. Hardy says he’s intrigued and he’d love to talk in private, and they go off together.

Daniel Garcia vs. Sammy Guevara (c) (Interim AEW TNT Championship)

Collar and elbow, vigorously shoving each other off and reapplying it, headlock takeover for a headscissors, trading slaps, Garcia fighting from guard, getting trapped in the corner but he fights out and starts throwing uppercuts and elbows! Snapmare into a kick to the back, trading chops and Daniel crumples!

Guevara off the ropes, corkscrew tope and the cocky bastard blows a kiss! Back inside, trading strikes, Sammy with the backbreaker rack, Red Death counters with a rake of the eyes, go-behind, shove off, backflip, Daniel catches him with a backbreaker and the interim champ rolls to the floor as we go to break!

Guevara with a double jump senton atomico to the floor! Back inside, he gets on the second, Garcia trips him up, Saito Suplex... SO CLOSE!

Looking for a crab, Guevara reverses to a pin for two, backbreaker rack, Feast Your Eyes is countered and Garcia gets a Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring! Wrenching back hard, Sammy crawls to the ropes and gets the break! Back body drop, Garcia charges in but Guevara sidesteps the dropkick!

Inverted facelock, Sammy hits a Cross Rhodes that spikes Red Death on his dome but can’t keep him down! Commentary informs us that we’re sticking with the match until the time limit expires, Sammy goes to the apron, springboard, double jump... ACE CRUSHER COUNTERED INTO A SLEEPER HOLD!

Guevara gets to his feet, Daniel hits the back to back backbreaker into Saka Otoshi before snapping off a piledriver... SAMMY GUEVARA FINDS THE WILL TO KICK OUT! Desperation enzuigiri, both men are down and out and 2.0 hits ringside to beat Chris Jericho up!

They throw him into the barricade and cheer their son on, Sammy hits a short-arm knee, backbreaker rack, he has to drop Garcia to fight 2.0 off, schoolboy for two! Backbreaker rack...

Sammy Guevara wins by pinfall with his Feast Your Eyes, the name of which I can never remember even though it’s three letters, to retain the interim AEW TNT Championship.

Post-match, David Crockett shakes his hand but 2.0 jump him and beat him down!

Chris Jericho runs 2.0 off with the bat and ends up getting in Eddie Kingston’s face!

That’s the show, folks.
